Default Help! Acura TSX 6spd with Navi or IS250 6spd

My heart was set on the Acura TSX 6spd with Navi, but when I saw the fine lines of the IS I knew I need to check one out in person. Sure enough I was offered a really good deal on the IS250 6spd base in Silver, Black, or Grey. This sucks because my first and only choice was white.

So here is my situation,

Base IS250 6spd in Silver, Black or Grey or Fully loaded TSX 6pd or Base WHITE IS250 in AT? Oh the decisions.

What are the pro and cons of the 6spd vs AT in the IS and why does the AT yield better gas mileage than the 6spd. Why would you pick the IS250 over the loaded TSX?

Thanks

You've got a big decision to make there!

Check out the Search function and you'll find a couple of people that have opinions about the two cars. If you want to think of resale value, the base IS250 will hold up far more than a loaded TSX, as options depreciate rapidly.

As for the auto having better gas mileage than the manual tranny, it's simply because the manual tranny was not engineered perfectly to complement the engine compared to the auto tranny. It's rather negligible though; it really depends on driving style...

Good luck and keep us informed with your decision!

By the way, Welcome to the Club!!!

Even without any bias, I vote for the IS 250.

First reason is the fact that the IS is a RWD car, which makes it more fun to drive than the TSX.

However, if you're going to get a manual transmission car, I heard that Lexus isn't that great in making standard transmission cars.

Therefore, if you're gonna get an IS, cough up a bit more money for the automatic transmission.

The automatic transmission in the IS changes gears so efficiently that it even yields better gas mileage than the manual transmission.

So yeah, there's my opinion. Get an IS 250 with an auto transmission.

You'll be able to find plenty of white ones then.

Why not get the IS250 6speed with the NAV. You can always special order and it only takes 5 months. I waited for it and I just got my car today with the Nav/ML. I will post picture later for you guys to see.

I can probably give you couple opinions since I had the IS350 base model and I also bought my wife 06 TSX with Navi loaded. If you like all the bells and whistles then TSX loaded is better than the IS. But consider that the IS has the cool start button and no-key-out-of-your-pocket to enter the car, you will quickly fall in love with the ease of the IS (and don't forget the cool start up instrument lightup sequence). IS has smaller interior room than TSX. You may be more comfy in TSX if you are a bigger guy. Powerwise is about the same if you are getting IS250 or TSX. IS may be a little bit faster but not by much. The rest is all about the look. TSX looks elegant and IS has more aggressive stance. Get IS350 loaded then it's all good! If speed is not your concern and money is bit tight then TSX loaded is all good!

Good luck with your choice!

Get the TSX if you enjoy rowing your own. I don't think RWD matters as much when you are talking 200hp ad the TSX is a fun car.

Thing is, if I get Navi in the IS250 the price would considerably more than the TSX. But, as of right now w/ no Navi in the IS, the price would be even with the TSX.

Andone- How is the 6spd in the IS250?

Fully loaded TSX with Navi is still under $30k. Base model IS250 with some dealer addon will be more than $32k.

For the value what you get such as moonroof/leather seats/HIDs/Navi..etc..the TSX eats the IS250. I personally would buy a TSX for the value. They are great cars. I know 2ppl that drives them and are very happy campers. I drovethe IS250 and was not very satisfy of what it comes standard. So I bought a IS350 instead. But for the value...TSX no doubt about it.

Ps..one more thing I noticed...Acura has one kick *** Navi system..!!! One of thee best in the mkt today.

brother has a TSX, interior is obviously much better in the IS, both cars will be similar speed, the TSX is considerably less expensive. TSX is still a great car for that price. Just depends how much you want to spend, you can easily make a 250 go into the high 30s for a similarly loaded TSX which will be in the low 30s at most
