Default will this be cover by warranty?

i drove home last night (saturday at like 12 AM) and heard a clunk. Next thing the low tire warning came on and i was like a block away from home, so i checked and there was an air leak on the sidewall of my passenger tire. I took the tire off and put on the spare right away so it would not harm my rim. i was gonna bring the car in but today is Sunday. Now my question is will the tire be cover by the basic tire warranty or the car warranty? I have an 07 IS250 AWD and it's only 4-5 months old. Since it is on the sidewall i think it should be cover right?

Just curious but why do you think that the tire would be covered under warranty because the sidewall is damaged, or any other tire damage for that fact?

Road hazards are not covered by the standard warranty. The warranty is there to protect you from manufacturer defects, this does not appear to fall under that umbrella.

I don't think dealer will warranty any damaged on tire/rim caused by external forces.

I don't think dealers offer Road HAZ on tires yet... and I don't think they will. Most of dealer will leave their customers to deal with tire manufacturers when there is a tire problem.

Just bad luck for you, but I am glad you made it safe.

there is a tiny hole on the sidewall, so i don't think anything pot hole would make such a tiny hole to the tire. That's why i thought it might be a defect

Tires are waranteed separately by the tire manufacturer. Check your documents, the tire warranty is in there. If the hole is caused by a defect in the tire construction it will be covered under the warranty. If it is due to a nail, or scrub, which is usually the case, it is not covered. Sounds like you hit a pothole, or other road debris, in which case it wouldn't be covered. Take the tire in to the dealer (Lexus or the tire dealer) and get a reading as to what caused the problem.

i think you might be able to claim it for warranty.
I had a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. I bought those at costco, and i was on the 60 fwy, then the sidewall bursted. I had to go over four lanes to exit the freeway and the traffic was normal like 70mph, luckily my rim was okay.

Costco pro-rated my bursted tire via warranty.

I think your tire is like my situation, didn't hit anything or whatever, it just did what it did.
Try to contact the tire manufacture.

no i dont think so buddy.

Lexus would not do anything about your tire unless you have purchased road hazard warranty.

As for costco, all of their tire purchase include road hazard.

warranty only covers defects. Yours is obviously an "Act of God". So no warranty.

Dealers do offer road hazard...have it on mine and when I hit a pothole they prorated the cost on the replacement.

You might be able to have it covered by the tire's manufacture warranty. I would consider, going forward, going to discount and purchasing the certs for them. They will offer it on new tires. I just had a nail in mine and while I did purchase the warranty for the rims and tires through the dealership, for 147.00 I not have road hazzard through discount tire and let me tell you it is well worth it.

$500? I paid $350 for mine (5 yrs).

It's amazing to see how different dealers jack prices around.

These 'add on' extras are pure gravy for the dealer and is where many of them make their profit. Almost none of these dealer offered warranties are worth it on a pure dollar protection basis.
