Need a quick answer cause i'm in the middle of doing my oil change. I cant find the oil drain bolt crush washer, and it looks like the lexus dealer who did my oil change last didnt even install one. Am i supposed to have a crush washer? or does it not need one. I've done oil changes on other cars and i've always installed a metallic crush washer.

need to know asap before it gets dark out, thanks!

it helps to have one to relief stress on the threads. If you have another car, you can find a crush washer pack at autozone, one of them should fit

nah it's just my luck that we have like 4 cars in this household and nobody is around.

I thought that i might be ok since the drain hole is raised. I thought it was the washer that was stuck to the pan, but after trying to pry it off i figured that it was the surface of the drain hole. Also i will check the container i drained it into again. But if nothing is in there then that means that the lexus dealer who did the last oil change on it didnt install a crush washer as well.

Since i'm so paranoid about it i could finish up like normal and change the filter and put new oil in. Drive my car to the autozone get the crush washer and drain the oil, put the washer in and recycle the oil (which is new anyways). Or i might just say eff it and get it installed in a couple thousand miles when i change my oil again.

it could stay leak free without a crush washer, dont tighten it too much but try to see if you can get it to be leak free without a washer. Can buy some time until you get yourself some

When I changed my oil last week, I thought whoever did it before me did not have a crush washer. Lo and behold it was stuck on the opening. I just put back the plug and no leaks. I had a spare but it looked ok. As long as it is torqued right not tight not loose, it will hold up. I change the washer every 2 or 3 changes when I see the washer fully crushed.

I'll just make sure a new washer is on there when i do my next oil change. In the meantime i'll be sure to check for leaks.

Great write up. I use 4 Rhino ramps since I prefer my vehicle at flat level and I've also noticed getting a better drain for the old oil.

Quick check, oil change not due until 800 miles. All looking good.

Snuck in a car wash even though the forecast said freezing rain!

How do you reset the light again?

1.Odometer Must be in Total trip display
2. Turn the car off
3. Hold the Odometer button down and continue to hold throught all steps to follow
4. Do NOT put your foot on the brake
5. Push the ignition button twice. Do not hold
6. Watch the display (continue to hold the Odometer button)
7. The Oil Maintenance light will reset after a few seconds
8. Finally, release the odometer button.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I just recently purchased an IS350 (2011), and about to do first oil change - Looking online and in this thread, I can't seem to find any info about a gasket for the oil plug. Is it not necessary? If it is - can someone please provide the part #? I am finding mixed results with part number 90430-12031, Amazon says it fits, MyLParts says it doesnt...any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
~Sass
