Default Windows and moonroof open unexpectedly

Mystery. Twice now, I have gone out in the morning to find my garaged 07 250(awd) with all four windows 1/4 to 1/2 of the way down. One of these two mornings, the moonroof was also about 1/4 of the way open. I cannot figure out how this happened.

It was not the kids -- the kids arel all off to college several hundred miles away so it's just the wife and me.

Both my wife and I are certain, absolutely certain, that when we parked the car in the garage the windows and moonroof were closed.

Clearly, the most obvious explanation here is that in carrying around the fob in one's pocket, one of us accidentally hit a key starting the automatic down windows sequence. OK, but all found windows were not down all the way. Plus, I don't think the remote also opens the moonroof (I may be wrong on this).

Anyone have any explantion?
Electrical short of some short? There are no other problems or issues with the car at all.

Thanks for any ideas.

Actually this has happened to me before as well-

the crazy part is my car stays outside, and I have gone out to my car in the morning or at night to take out the trash and the sunroof is half open and the windows are half down-

and the BMW guys say our cars have no soul.....LOL

This is caused by holding the unlock button on the fob. You have to hold it down for 15 seconds to roll the windows and sunroof down all the way. But if you stop after 5 seconds you will get half-rolled down windows/sunroof.

Yes, exactly. Just because you hold the unlock button on the key fob does not mean the windows will go down all the way. You hold the unlock button until you get the windows open to your desired position (if you want the windows to completely open, as mentioned above, you have to hold it for a while - otherwise hold it for a few seconds to slightly open it)

I've been aware of this windows open feature of the fob but I've never used it (on purpose) and I can't imagine I ever would, personally. Is there a way to just turn of this feature (so when can continue to wear tight pants around the house)?

1) Yes, its possible to turn it off.

You can do this through Lexus Personalized Settings (LPS) through any Lexus dealer. Here is the link to the settings that you can configure for the ISx50:

http://owners.lexus.com/lexus-main/p...ice/IS_LPS.pdf

For the power windows, it is option #6. Just remember the first time you do LPS its free but after that most dealers charge a small fee

2) Why do you need to keep the key fob in your pants while in the house

This also happened to me at work...my car was parked pretty far away too luckily it didn't rain, but if it happened the next day i would have flooded the car. I now keep my keys in my jacket at work...

Always with me and I never have to remember to pick them up. I know: car won't start without 'em but then you have to go back, pick em up, etc. Just personal prefrence.....

When awake and dressed I *always* have my keys on me; always.
