Default Oil Change?

My question is would would get your oil changed at a local Toyota dealership if the closest Lexus dealership is just over a hour drive away? Or would you do something else, like a quick lube place etc.

Man this need to be a sticky.

Yes my Lexus dealer is 80 miles away. Yes I have taken my car to my toyota dealership. It was right at 30 bucks. No I didn't have any issues with it. Yes I will probably take my car to my Toyota dealership again.

The only thing Toyota tells you differently is that you should change your oil every 3k instead of what Lexus recommeds at 5k. Might want to ask if they use the *Toyota oil* and make sure they have your filter. They didn't have the Toyota 5w-20 but they had a Castrol GTX 5w-20 which is just as good. Just questions you need to ask before hand.

Don't go to Toyota dealerships and expect them to treat your Lexus nicely.

At least that's what I've heard.

Same goes for those lube places.

Either do it yourself, ask a friend or neighbor to do it for you, or go to an auto mechanic that you trust completely.

And even if you trust that mechanic, keep a keen eye out for your car.

Wow, I'm so paranoid...

Better safe than sorry .

^^

And that is how rumors are spread. My Toyota dealership treated me just as well as my Lexus dealership got in. When I got into my car there were no oil smudges on my center console unlike the Lexus dealership. I'm sure Toyota would be slightly more concerned with having a more expensive car in their shop.

What you may want to ask is if they have a Lexus certified tech..... I guess I'm confident in my Toyota dealership because I was told that my dealer had one. If he's lying.. well I'll never know.

I am going to make the appointment to bring in my car to the Toyota Dealership and give them a try. Ill just watch them like a hawk. hehe. I thought it would be much more than 30 bucks for an oil change though.

Do something else.
Oil change won't take 30 min if DIY. Or go to the local shops (with good reputation) but make sure you provide filter and oil. The best thing is to learn how to do it and DIY it.

If you can brush your teeth you can change oil, hell you figure the guys at jiffy lube can do it -- granted they have no education, zero skill of any sort, will never be as financially secure as you who have a Lexus, and for the most part are the dredges of society. DIY all the way.

Sorry I'm a little hard stupid people...my vice.
