Just special ordered an 07 350 with Sport Pkg, ML/NAV, Spoiler, and GFX plus some other goodies.
MSRP came to a little over 52k. They started me out with an offer of 48k got them down to 46,500.
Of course i offered a very very large down payment, so my situation might be different. Had to stand up and walk out a few times.

Well unfortunately I was only able to negotiate a discount of $1500 off MSRP. I have always wondered how employees of dealerships that sell cars at zero profit or at a loss, as has often been reported here, manage to feed their families.

What am I missing??

A large down payment doesn't net the dealer much. Money is money, and they would just as soon have you finance the whole thing.

It all depends on current market conditions. You might think it is a joke and just walk away, but if there is someone who wants the car bad enough the dealer can wait and sell it for more money. Then the dealer thinks the joke is on YOU. It's all about supply and demand. You can't change that equation in the end.

No, they don't have the car I am looking for. It was for one that is coming in on a ship right now and will be on their lot at the end of this month.

What Corp discount do you have?

Does Sewell have 2 Lexus dealerships in the Dallas area????

Lexus employees are paid per unit (flat rate)... not commission.

My dealer is offering me an IS350 for NAV/ ML/ LUX+ 18 inch/ Rear Spoiler for $41,900. Looks like this is a good deal seeing as there's a low supply for them. Any one knows when Lexus will stop taking special orders? I want Glacier Frost Mica if I am going to pay at that price.

350's are so scarce now... I wonder if the 2008's are planning to have a horsepower boost or something? The 350 is a huge car for Lexus... there's gotta be a reason for the scarcity.

I have spoken to many sales reps and they say there will be no major changes to the '08 model (e.g. no engine boost, etc). I'm not really sure why 350s are so scarce... but it does sound like I can still get a pretty good deal on the West Coast. So, I will probably start calling around there and see what kind of deal we can work out.

Yeah what's even worse is that every commercial that I see for an IS is for a 350. They are advertising a car that most dealers don't even have on the lot and if they do they only have one or two.

They get paid a flat rate per week if they dont meet their quota of cars to sell, if they sell over the quota then they get extra bonuses (% of prive over invoice) kinda like commission.

Like everyone says, its a matter of supply and demand, the less supply the more demand, and the more power the dealerships have to keep the price high cuz they know if you dont take their deal the next person will.

Which dealer did you get the car. Also, who was your salesman. I am thinking about getting a 2007 and dumping my 2006 tung. pearl IS350.
