AND since when is a 07 M3 price similar to a 07 is350??? but you said... a 'garage queen', like you can find one on just about on every street eh? Still I would buy the toyota over a bmw reguardless of mdl. Where does it say in any lexus brochure/web site that the is350 is ment to compete with the m3 anyway, link please?
If you start nitpicking every little difference and say it's different class, then no car can be in same class to be compared. I mean by your definition 250rwd and 250awd should be in different class. By any sane person's standard, they - IS250 and IS350 are in same class. Different engine, yes. Still same class.

There is no 2007 M3. Lexus can't/won't say IS350 competes with M3 b/c it loses in every meaningful comparison minus cabin quietness. No you can't find a garage queen 05-06 M3 every corner but you can find one in about same frequency for about same price or less of IS350.

Do you work for Toyota/Lexus? Why would you buy toyota over bmw "regardless"?? That just says you are either a partisan or an igorant fool.

Don't fail to consider that many people who buy the 250 (especially the AWD) don't live in Hawaii or California where the weather is perfect every day, and roads aren't full of potholes and frost heaves. Why is it so hard to get that people like me don't often drive on back country "twisty roads" and don't need/want the 350 or don't want the IS without AWD?

If you look at many cars from many manufacturers, there are always trim levels that include bigger engines with better performance, along with more luxury and features, and the lower end models with smaller engines and fewer features. The IS is no different. Just buy the one you want.
