Default Resale price increasing?

Every so often I check Edmunds and KBB for the trade in value (not looking to get rid of the IS, but I can be odd that way). Last month I remember thinking it was ok with a resale a little over $25,000. Last night it was a little over $26,000.

I used 17,800 miles and the second highest rating. My only thought s that the new model is selling well; thus, resale is better than the old model and now there is more data as opposed to the previous guesses to pricing.

Just thought I would pass along the info.

Thanks, I hope this car holds its resale value as I have every intention of selling it once the warrenty period is over. Id love to get around 25-26k for it then, but who knows what itll be worth in 4 years...

This is true is the demand for our car is high. This happened to my old man's '82 Vette. Bought it for $18K at that time and it got stolen after 2 years. His insurance paid him $22K.

Let's just hope our cars are more appealing than the new one. Just look at the BMW. BMW owners hate the new 5 and 7 series bangle design.
I know that Lexus will try to improve its design and performance but I want to keep my car for a long time - at least 5-6 yrs so I'm hoping that they don't change the body style soon. I love our car's aggressive look.

I bought my second MkIV Supra in Jan '97 for $28.5k. It's a hardtop TT 6 speed. Guess what it's worth today, even with 140k miles on it?

I doubt my IS will outperform it for resale any time soon.

Not to one up you......because I do have a thing for MkIV Supras-

but i bought my 67 Shelby GT500 back in 2000, it took some money to retore it- but including the cost of the car, I have about $35,000 into it right now-

want to guess what its worth?

If it weren't for F&F, it would just be another aging Japanese sports car. That's how it got it so cheap in '97. F&F wasn't out yet. It was four years old and originally sold for $43k. The original owner saved the window sticker for me.

IMHO, the movie sucked, but what it did for resale on Supras was WONDERFUL.

LOL the similarity- I bought my car before Gone in 60 seconds-

movie was OK, but price of my car shot through the roof-

maybe we need to write a commission check to Universal Studios?

Car depreciates alot the 1st 3yrs. At about 5 yrs I could just sell it at blue book value and don't feel bad. Selling your car after a year - expect at least $5- 7k depreciation. 2nd yr about $10K. 3rd yr about $12-15K .@ 5/6 yrs I could still sell it at 50-55% its original value or even more depending on condition and mileage. Plus I bought this coz I fell in love with it. Don't u wanna stay with ur love a long time? lol
