Default Found a *new* feature..

Well at least I didn’t know about it.

I pulled off in a parking lot today and got out of my car while it was running for about 30 seconds. When I got back in it to drive off I found that I forgot to put the car in park (left it in drive). The car didn’t roll forward at any time. It must have some feature that knows that you have left the car and stops it from rolling forward.

wait...so you jumped out of the car while it was still in drive? that doesn't sound right at all, it should have drove off without you

yea, that doesn't sound right..as soon as you took your foot off the brakes, it should have started rolling cuz you're still in the car...

I just tried that and my car went straight thru my office wall. Must only be available on the IS 350's?

the only way i can see this happening without putting the car into park or neutral is if you turned the car off while still in drive...however, jumping out of a moving vehicle sounds more like an ID 10t error than a feature

Did you really jump out that fast? lol.

If you leave it in drive, the car WILL go. You probably left it in Neutral. Either way, Any gear aside from Park, the car will give off a very loud constant "BEEP" once you open the door, to tell you to put the car in park. Did you have earplugs on?

Yeah, this one stumps me. But, the hood of my car makes for a great desk.

(I'm only kidding, by the way).

I've been distracted before, put the emergency break on, left the car in drive and tried to turn off the engine...

Let's just say that the car wasn't too happy and threw a fit worse than a 4 year old in a grocery store checkout lane!

a) The car won't turn off
b) You get a flashing warning in the instrument cluster and the multi-display
c) If you thing the "fast" seatbelt buzzer is annoying and LOUD...

Let just say I'll never do that again.

New feature for me was; When you push the map button, when the map is displayed on the nav, the current position address displays.
