Default Go to USC, sell my is350 or go to UCLA, get an IS-F

well USC has a much better rep imo, but 45k a year won't pay for itself. im only going for my last 2 years, but compared to the 6k a year at UCLA--i am stuck between the two. USC is my dream school, but my parents would take a real hit sending me there. UCLA is cheap, but my cars gonna get egged by most californians seeing as USC is the reigning university in LA. what to do what to do?

How about these sane options:

1. Go to USC, cancel your BMW order(if you can).

2. Go to UCLA, not get an IS-F.

Do you just HAVE TO waste money ?

And who says you'll get egged at UCLA ...

You're kidding me, right? Dude, no one cares where you go to school enough to look at you, much less egg your car...

Obviously, family finance is a real concern here. Get the IS-F after you graduate and get a job.

Do you pay for the cars or the parents?

UCLA will cost your mommy and daddy a boatload more than 6K a year... You need to sit down with them and get the real skinny on costs... You would do well to research the schools a little better too... UCLA is one of the premier schools in the nation.

Have you been accepted already to either school? From a pure academic stats perspective, UCLA is a better and tougher school to get into. Also, as a UCLA grad (with its rivalary with USC), I am a bit biased and I think UCLA is a better school.

But in all honesty, at the end of the day, it all depends on what you'd like to study, your preference for public vs private education, etc. Either way, I have NEVER been egged while attending UCLA. Both universities are excellent choices and personally, I'd recommend that you look long term and don't worry about impacts to your car selection with your decision with education. Education should be your primary driver here in your decision - not which car you should get.

With either school choice, how about just getting a car that fits the budget for you and your parents? For what was financially comfortable for me and my parent's budget, I've had the same car (Honda Accord) from high school through college and my first five years of work. Then I saved enough money to buy my IS350 cash (I don't like paying interest).

I'm surprised USC has a better rep in Cali than UCLA. UCLA has always been a higher ranked and more selective school. Nationally, IMO UCLA definitely has a better academic rep...USC is known more as a spoiled kids school and a football powerhouse.

Why don't you look at your career goals and decide based on that, not on your car situation?

i'd get a beat up car while you go to UCLA to save your parents some money.

Honestly after being out in the workforce now for over 10 years, I can honestly say no one in business gives a rats *** where I went to college, what my GPA was, they just want to see a degree in business-

and I seem to be doing all right-

When I was working for Southern California Edison, most of their engineers came from Calstate. Those who went to UCLA and such had the same jobs and their pay wasn't any higher. A company rather take experience over what school you want to
