SInce the S2000 is lighter it should take off faster than an IS350... But in the long run the IS350 which has more power than the S2000 should come back from behind. (just matter of time...)

Yea, the S2K is much lighter but launching from a stop is its weakest link. The car barely has enough torque to loosen a lug nut! The car will bog with a 7000 rpm clutch drop. The IS350 will win all day long.

I was wondering why the doubt about whether or not an MR2 would beat you.... the I remember you guys didn't get the later generation MR-2 Turbos from 95-99.

Needless to say, those JDM MR2 would hand it to both the IS and S2000, 1/4 or track

I remember that in Mexico, we still had the MR2 after it left the U.S., but absoutely true that MR2 was a beast.

A year ago, I walked into a Toyota dealership and told the rep, how about putting 2 turbos in this, and he said, why would you want to do that, because I would never hear the word lose again.

race in track or going straight?

I think going straight IS will win and overall on the track the S2000 will win.
IS has too much roll.

I've race with the 2007 s2000 rolling about 30-40. We both in 2nd gear, 350 pulled away easily on the S, but stay way from them in the track or caynon though.

Im gonna end this discussion right now, my youner brother owns a S2000 & I own a IS350, not once has he beat me, either in the Quarter mile, straight away, on some curvy roads @ the blue hills here in Mass, or @ top speed straight out pushin it!!! Even trying 2 creap off on me he hasnt won & the boy can drive!! So no the S2000 will not take an IS350, & if it happens I have 2 see it 2 believe it!!! Oh & 2 my brother since I know you be on C L forums, sorry for putting you on blast on C L

stock to stock mr2 will loose in 1/4 miles... true we didn't get the 3rd gen 3sgte , but doesn't mean we can't get it and slap it on. The main difference between the 2nd and 3rd gen is the ecu and the turbo ct26 and ct20b.

US
Steel ct26

Japan
Ceramic ct26 <---- Spools nicely but dies at 14~16psi
Ceramic ct20b <--- under 13 sec quarter mile (300wrhp possible)

Rally st205 Celica Alltrac
CT20b steel

You can get a 2nd 3sgte (mr2 ) and slab on a Ceramic ct20b without any issues at all.

There's are also a lot of aftermarket for the mr2.. it's been dont witha stroker engine they're putting 800whp .. you can find a clip on youtube...

on the track... you're talkin bout mid engine RWD.. not jus a regular RWD.. this question is simple

1st gen 3sgte <- only in the (i think 86 in japan)88~89 celica alltrac (St165)
2nd gen 3sgte <- Ceclica alltrac (St185) Alltrac 5th gen and Mr2 2nd gen
3rd gen 3sgte <-- Celica Alltrac (ST205) and Mr2 3rd gen

The 2nd and 3rd gen aren't that much different... i believe the 2nd gen head flows better than the 3rd gen ... (someone tested 'em)

I sold my 2005 S2000 when I bought My IS350. The IS wins hands down in acceleration. The S2000 wins hands down in the twisties. The S2000 has no low end power at all, but near the upper end it's got plenty, it'll let you throw it around while staying very predictable.

Compression ratio is higher, and no, as far as I know, the 2nd gen head does NOT flow better than the 3rd gen.

IF the IS can beat a 3rd gen MR, it would be by maybe 1/10th of a second...

The best the IS has done on the 1/4 stock is what? 13.7?

Track:

Totally depends on the track.

An IS350 would be more dominate as the track took on more longer straits and less turns.

An S2000 would be more dominate as the track took on shorter straits and more turns.

The Is350 dominates the S2000 in strait line performance, especially at any given speed above 5mph (dominates period)

The S2000 dominates an Is350 in any turn (dominates period).
