weird problem...
i have an 07 IS250 AWD and at the begin when the car is still new, there was no engine noise inside the car, but now after 5 months and 2500 miles; i can hear my direct-injection from inside the car with the music off. at a stop light i could hear my engine noise from the inside and pretty loud too, not quiet anymore. the engine noise is really loud from the inside now. This is of course with the windows all up and it is still loud and you can hear it. and outside the car, man it sounded like a disel with that ticking direct-injection. the car is awfully loud in the morning when i let it idle for the first 1 minute before i go. it sounded like a v8 from outside the car and you can hear the engine noise on the inside too. Does anybody else car sound like this?

Loudness is a subjective thing.
I can obviously hear the engine from the outside, but I don't recall being able to hear it from the inside...unless I have the windows down, of course.

Interesting topic. I was trying to arm my car earlier today and it keeps on beeping. I peeked inside my car and the warning light say fob/key not detected. To make story short my engine was still on and I didn't even realized it coz it's so quiet. AND I have a Tanabe exhaust. If you can hear your engine from the inside I'd say it must be very loud. Have it checked.

are you using regular gas from a no name gas station?
My dad's been using regular in his Audi Q7 4.2 and he's been telling me about poor gas mileage so I dumped a bottle of Gumout fuel system cleaner.
Works better now but he's gotta stop using regular.
Audi's are really finicky about the fuel quality and engine oil quality.
I'm pretty sure it'll happen to all high feature engines these days

same here... i have 06' is250awd and with all the windows up, i can hear the ticking sound pretty loud. It's not that loud but I can hear it, it doesn't bother me and I only use premium fuel also. I believe it's normal?

I think of it more like *white noise* now. If I turn my music down and sit in my car I can hear my injectorstoo. Its not obnoxiously loud but I certainly don't think its something you need to worry about unless it sounds like a clatter. But if all else fails take it to your dealer and let him make that call.

You know.... the night I picked mine up I tried to start it and didn't realize that it was on it was so quiet. Now, almost 1.5 years later, I think it sounds quite a bit louder. I have no problem knowing when it is on. However, I don't think the decibel level of the engine noise has increased. I think what I've become accustomed to is a much quieter vehicle coming from an old 4-banger Accord so that even the slightest creak or noise becomes deafeningly loud. Does that make sense?

What car did you come from before the 2IS? I came from an '02 WRX and when I first got the 2IS it was really quiet. I couldn't even hear the engine for the first month. After that first month, I thought my engine got a lot louder. I think it's because I've gotten used to the car so I can hear every little thing. I asked my gf if she thought it got louder and she said I was crazy. So it's probably the fact that you've gotten used to the car and now you're just noticing every little thing that you didn't before.

i came from an 02 accord 4cly, the lexus was really quiet for the 4 months and then coming to the 5th, it was loud and sounded like my 4 cyl accord at idle. my accord does not have any engine vibration but this lexus shakes. you can feel the engine shakes the car from the front seats, the door panels and the steering wheel. the noise is unacceptable because it was quiet before why the sudden change only after 5 months old. i always thought of lexus as having quiet engines and no vibrations but this IS is totally ruin the name. And I've always use the top of the line premium 91 from Cheveron for the first 3 months and now Shell 92 premium.
