Default DIY on DRL

The DRL don't bother me, but there is a lot of talk on how to turn it off. Here it is.

-remove lower dash panel (if you don't know what this is, you shouldn't do this)
-You may want to drop the entire lower dash and air bag cover to get a better view.
You may also what to remove the two silver screws that holds up the fuse box(see picture of the box).

-Use your fingers and feel above the parking brake pedal. There is a monmentary switch above the mechanisms.
Behind the switch, there is a black plug with one YELLOW wire

prepare a toggle switch and connect it to the wire. More on that later. Have to go to work.

Thats a lot of work. I would try going to the dealer first and then consider this if they wont do it.

My dealer did it with no hassle.
I just told them where to look on the screen and they turned them off.
I believe there's a note in the FAQ somewhere.

Yea seriously! Thanks for the write up man, but the dealer does it for free in like 10 minutes while you eat a fruit bar, have a drink and stare at the hot chicks that work there!

theirs an easier way,for the guys that want to wire around it.There is a relay pack that enables the DRL`s in the engine bay,all you have to do is apply 12volts to the primary relay and this will disable the DRL resistor relay. No toggle switch needed.Done this on every car I`ve owned with DRL.You just remove the control voltage from the resistor relay and allow it to power up the high beam relay.(this will not turn on your high beams all the time, their is another relay that powers the head light itself)this is what happens every time you turn on your head lights anyway(power applied to high beam relay)

What is a DRL? And why would you want to mod it?

I think Jeremy needs to explain it just a little.....easier for us "humans"

DRL = Daytime Running Lights.

I assume this "mod" will enable you to toggle it on and off.

Not every single dealership is willing to turn off the DRL's. I got lucky with the tech, he was really cool.

When I brought in my car for the 5000mi service, I also had my LPS done. I had the 7-8 page sheets downloaded from here and they did everything I wanted, including disabling DRL.

This was at Tustin Lexus, btw.
