I'd get one. THe IS350 is not really fun to drive, needs a manual. I love the looks, but I keep wishing I got the 335i or older M3.

If I ever do get rid of my car though, I'm getting something older OR cheaper. I've always wanted an old NSX to supercharge or newer, cheap car to soup up.

Ok so here's the latest scoop. Test drove a few more M3's and I've got to say. That made my mind for me. All the ones I drove (verts) had crazy rattles and squeaks coming from all over the place. It made my IS when I got back into it, sound like a library.

The transmission was rough(while not too bad), but the 6 spd just sucks.

All in all, I've decided AGAINST and M3.

However.

I stopped by my local Acura dealership where they have no less than 10 S2000's. They had a 06 Laguna Blue(the BEST color ever), and it only had 4000 miles on it. I made an offer and they accepted it..... I walked out to think about it though =T

Nothing drives like the S2000. I'm thinking about getting back into the saddle. Oh and about my IS, I think my gf wants to buy it from me she loves it so much. Problem solved. I can have my cake and eat it too. =)

I'll update if I do pull the trigger.

Have to admit the Lotus is the best bang for the buck and is a true drivers car. 0-60 in 4.1 from a 4 banger. and that's not even it's strong point. All that for $60ish.

Id trade my IS in for a older M3, as long as it qualifies for a extended warranty through my credit union. better yet still has a factory warranty, but I love that model year of the M3.

can't go wrong with an s2k

I'm getting close to getting back into an S2000. The M3 just had wayy too many rattles etc, it would be hell driving that thing on a daily basis with the top up in the winter.

I sold my 03 M3 about 4 months ago, my was a coupe.

As for BUILD Quality Lexus is 4 to 5 year ahead of BMWs.
My 03 M3 was rattling from day one, but nothing a good aftermarket exhaust wil not cover.

I will not get M3 Convertable as a DD for sure, not even as fun car, M3 convertable is a chick magnet, it is just too soft for any real track work, I will rather get a Miami, S2000 for autoX or Track car.

Good luck finding a good S2k, there are tons of them in the market, looking for a new owners now.

Alright. Current case is closed. I've decided to hold onto the IS for now. While I want the S again, its too much of a compromise to go BACK to an S. Maybe when the 01-02's get really cheap I'll pick one up as a track car.

So the Lotus costs more then the s2000 but you just can't go past the Lotus's looks and it's weight would shame the already light s2000 too dust.

S2000 is more solid, but the Elise Exige is alot more fun to drive and has better sounding exhaust and engine.

I'd pick the Lotus.

Here are the 3 scenarios I would pick in your situation:
1. Second car, pick up a S2000.
2. Track car, pick up a Lotus.
3. Replacing the IS? Pick up a new 335i Vert.

it's your decision. no one else will have the exact same taste that you do. i personally hate convertibles and the way soft tops look. the only way i think an s2k looks good is with a hardtop. i also can't understand why you would get a new car, keep it five months, and consider getting something else so fast. do whatever you will be happy with in the long run and not just for a little while.
