how do you smell the exhaust while you are driving?! it sounds very dangerous and also a little pointless. if the exhaust is behind you, you shouldn't smell it.

and if you are stomping on the gas while stopped, then maybe you should deserve to smell your own stink!
all in good fun

My IS350 did it once before but I wasn't surprise. My Mercedes E320 does the same thing every time I floor it. My friend's GS4 does it also. They all smell the same, like the car farted. Mobile gas? lolz

Come on, the Lexus isn't a trouble proof, a sound proof, and a smell proof car.

It's just a car in the end, and no exhaust fume smells good.

In fact, I believe that if you WOT the car, it acts like detox for the car, but the smell is the byproduct of WOTs.

seems like the gas, previous 850 turbo did this upon shutting off car. possibly issues with the refinement of the petroleum. unocal (conoco/philips) 87 octane here, and no probs, 400mi/14gals.

I have the same issue and I use Chevron Premium gasoline.

Like ISbb said, it only happens when I push the car a little bit out of normal.

like I said, it's because the cars are tuned rich. when you go WOT, the injectors spray extra fuel to lower the temperature in the cylinder and it doesn't burn completely. I think it ruins your cats and you end up with the sulfur smell leaking into the cabin.

I get it all the time from my 2004 Solara 3.3 V6 SLE.

You will get this no matter what kind of (street) gas you use.

It's always the same situation. You going WOT.

If you wanna fix the problem, I suggest you getting an A/F controller like the one Gernby is working on =P

Simple problem with a simple solution:

Drive more.

When you first get the car, every new car gives that smell off. After about 1500 miles it should be gone, or rare.

Oct 95, no car BO or farts although Lexus suggests that our fuel has higher levels of sulfur

the octane ratings are higher in Europe than America. it'll say 95 but it's more like our 91/93

Use the cabin air refresh to get rid of the smell, or set the air circulation to recycle.

Seems like an easy fix...

This has happened to me if I STOMP on it and accelerate really hard from first gear... I personally concluded its just the engine burning off any small amount of gunk/carbon when it runs hard... which cant be bad for it.

lol or u guys can pretend I didn't write anything

http://www.edmunds.com/maintenance/r...tner=edmunds#1

Also, try to avoid any gas station that says their fuel contains Ethanol.

I heard it will dirty your injectors and what not.
