Question LED rear turn signals change blinker speed?

Okay guys, sorry to ask this here, but I would rather ask advice from my fine CL brothers and sisters than go to a Handa forum... Plus I was thinking about doing these to my IS as well. I just installed LED turn signals, like these:

in my girlfriends 2006 Honda Civic EX coupe and they work and look great however when she uses her blinkers (turn signals) they blink much fast than they did before. I realize that taking those bulbs out changed the resistance (impedance) of that circuit and thus could have affect the blink rate, but what I dont know is whether or not this is going to be a bad thing... Will this cause any damage or cause anything to wear out in the long run?

What has been your guys' experience when changing to LED turn signals in the IS or any other car? Is this fast blink speed normal? Is it safe? Thanks for your help everyone!

You need to switch the flasher relay to one that supports the LED impedence. I think these are relatively easy to find...

On our car, you can buy a LED flasher. do a search on "led flasher". The one problem I noticed was that the lights don't blink when you arm/disarm the alarm if you change the flasher.

I could not find the flasher in my 2006 Honda Civic. If you know where it is located in the car let me know.

Okay, and where are those usually located on cars? In the fuse boxes? Also is there any harm in just leaving it the way it is?

Just throw on a resistor.

it blinks fast because LED's use less voltage than reg. bulbs. so the signal tranfers back and forth quicker

I know I hate them too! Its not my car thought its my girlfriends. And we didnt want that effect i just thought there would have been a built in impendance matched to that of an incandesant bulb... Guess I was hoping for too much.

Yea thats what I thought, I guess I just thought the manufacturer would have included an internal resistor in the unit to attempt to compensate for that change...

also, it is also against the law in california to have a faster than factory blinker rate. learned this at traffic school but i dont know if any cops would actually pull you over for it.

Typically under the dash or under the hood. Read the manual, it should say.

Well if you mean the fuse boxes yea I know where those are, but where in there whatever controls the flasher speed... is it the fuse itself?

Do a search on "led flasher"! You'll find a DIY!

Then you have another problem, an IS that is on fire. You can start another thread for that problem.
