Default My first run at the track!

I finally made it over to the local drag strip to see what I could do stock before I started with any intake or exhaust mods. I had a smidge above a 1/4 tank of gas and I removed my spare. Ran in ECT-Power mode. Didn't play with tire pressures at all.

From what I've seen others on here do, I think my 1/4 mile time is pretty decent considering I've never run at a track before. However, I'm a little confused by a few things on my time slip and I'm hoping some of you track vets can shed some light (obviously, I'm on the left):

What's the deal with my 1/8 mile MPH? Is the decimal point just in the wrong place?
Does my 1/4 mile MPH seem low for that kind of 1/4 time, or is it me?

hahah your times look correct, but damn you set a world record in that 1/8th mph. Actually your 1/8th looks great. Your 1/4 is pretty damn good too. What was your Density Altitiude today?

nice run

Thanks! I calculated the density altitude at 208 ft. I wish I had the time to hang out for a 2nd run, but I had to bolt after just one.

Your 1/4 time is almost the same as mine was. See
http://www.dragtimes.com/Lexus-IS350...lip-11394.html
But, the other numbers look a little strange. For example, I was doing almost 101mph at the end, so I think you were going faster than the 94.8 your ticket said. And, I was doing 81.13 at the 1/8, so I think there's more than a decimal shift error on your 1/8. But, I could be wrong.

yep yoru 1/8th should be around 80-84 and 1/4 should be around 101-104.

That's not a bad DI. caymandive has a pretty nice worksheet going that shows just how much DI plays into how your car runs.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is "DI", please?

I don't know what to say about those times, but the Density Altitude for you that day and time was 213ft. The absolute barometer listed on your timeslip is wrong. I checked on weatherunderground and found the following information on the weather conditions for your run.

60ft elevation
64 degrees
30.15 altimeter setting
30 dewpoint

I use the following two sites to calculate Density Altitude. The lower the DA the more power your car will make. I will say one thing, your trap sped is very low as if you let off the gas or hit the brake towards the end. The 1/8mph is also wacked, so I bet your lanes timer was faulty that day. You should have stuck around for a few more runs, but you didn't know so.

You can see the DA journal I've been keeping. Right Click Here

1.17 Reaction
2.07 60 ft
5.75 330 ft
8.78 1/8
81.92 1/8 speed
11.40 1000
no MPH for 1000
13.644 1/4 @ 100.90 MPH

The majority of your times are similar to mine. I ran on a very humid night and I am right at sea level so.. They look okay. Your trap speed is a little low as others have said. The above times are of my first and really only pass I've done at a 1/4 mile track.

Just curious, but why did you post that timeslip to dragtimes.com? It's obviously not correct.

I def. didn't hit the brake, but I couldn't say that it is impossible that I let up off the gas a tad too soon...I thought I kept it floored until I was sure I was done, then eased off the gas, but hey, it was my first time. I'll keep it floored a little longer next time to be sure.

That's pretty messed up if someone else posted the time slip. They even used your sn.

Anyway, I think the times are probably correct, but the speeds are definitly all wrong. With a 13.6 time the speed should be at least 100mph, so hitting the brakes or letting off probably aren't the case.

Best of luck next time and don't use that lane again. hehe Keep us posted.

Yeah, wierd...I guess someone really wanted my slip posted there...not sure why.

I'm going to try and run again next week on Wed. or Fri. night...this time I'll run in the right-hand lane.

What car was in the other lane that ran a 12.001?
