Hmmm I know that if we unlock the doors but not open the doors the car will automatically lock with 30 seconds...but since you opened the door to put your bag in then it shouldn't have locked.

This happened to me once when my gf bought a new jeep she left the keys in the car and the car had a safety feature that it would automatiaclly close after a certain period of time. But then again that was not a key fob like ours.

I know sometimes when I unlock my car and don't open any doors, then the car will automatically lock itself after a minute.

However, when I open the driver's side door, it won't lock itself after a minute (I think). But I'm not sure about the rear doors.
I opened the rear passenger door. Didn't have time to open either front door prior to locking by itself.

i remember reading a thread similar to this a couple of months back. After AAA helped the OP unlock the car, he brought it to the dealership to see what happened. i think the dealership just opened up a case with Lexus support. there was nothing else the dealership could do because it couldn't be reproduced.

And I've never heard since. I doubt Lexus did anything. Probably just chalked it up to a one off fluke electronics thing. It hasn't happened since.

i've locked my keys in the trunk before... luckily i forgot to lock the car initially so i was able to get it out by poping the trunk open from the inside. it wouldnt let me open the trunk using the button on the trunk.

Huh, I never take my key out of my pocket. I just do everything with the buttons on the car.

Well, some people put their keys in their purses. Not saying Phillip was using a manpurse or anything.

I do put my keys in my laptop bag, I don't like things in my pockets when I'm wearing slacks for work.

It was the IS. Haven't attempted to reproduce the same situation with the LS.

The main difference: the LS has sensors on the handles for both the front and rear doors.

That's definitely odd because my car beeps when I try to lock the car with the key inside. I can see it possibly locking if you had the bag in the rear passenger seat and the key itself is surrounded by sweaty gym clothes :P

Mine didn't beep.

I was waiting outside my car for AAA for about 30 minutes. Not one beep...
