75 dollars from lexus. a little pricy for just a chrome surround but i wanted the option to be able to put it back to stock.

x2...i saw another thread where a guy with a white IS painted his ENTIRE grill white also and it looked horrible. the chrome piece surrounding the grill looks good painted in this thread. half the time when i see little mods done i think the car looks better stock.

just look at the new camrys.. they have full color matched grills and they look horrribbblleeeeee.. dont do it! if anything just get the chrome surrounding color matched if anything, no further.

if you were to paint the vertical bars, id say the only good looking option would to paint them black. i alweys thought it was black but when you look closely its a really dark grey, or am i bugging out?

I just purchased an extra chrome piece to paint it , but do I have to strip all the chrome off ? or paint over it ?

Of course you do!!! If you don't the paint won't adhere.

i stripped the chrome, primed it, then mixed the difficult 3 stage pearl white color to match my car.

i dont think trd will ever make anything for the 2nd gen IS. the reason the first gen got trd stuff was because in japan the IS was the toyota altezza but now its lexus IS worldwide.

TRD might not, but what about LRD? Pending the success of the lexus performance cars, i recon LRD could make it's appearance.

If you're planning to spray it, follow the prep work steps cos if you don't do it right, it'll look real bad.

look up local plating shops. pay them 20 bucks to de-chrome you bezel. they put the part in a vat of electrically charged chemical, and you are left with a nickel base plating... paint adheres very well to nickel. have the nickel plated bezel painted. the paint shop can go over the nickel lightly with steel wool to help prep the surface.

if the plating shop tells you that it wont work because it's plastic, tell them it will, because it has a nickel base. they will do it.

Where can i buy an extra crome plate? (the one around the grill) I would like to have both a Crome and a Paint Matched one.
