I'm not even sure what you mean.

Cruise control has never hindered my ability to turn my car.

Never had a problem.

Then again, when I turn, my hands start at 3 or 9, then turn about 180 degrees...

how does it hit your leg? are you a taller person? i have never had this problem in any of my cars and just curious how this happens? your car is a right side drive i assume? i wonnder if its in a different location then ours? can you take some pics???

No, no problem. My elderly MR2 has the same type control and no problem there either.

This is the same cruise that was in my 1992 Celica GT. It was perfect back then, and it is still perfect today. No changes since. This is the best factory cruise available.

You should adjust your seat....maybe the front is tilted too high?

or you need to re-adjust your steering wheel's position......

WTF? can someone explain where and what the heck is with cruise control hitting your LEG?!?! i need a picture....and yes, I do get the fact that this may be a right side drive car...so i'd really like to see it.
