Default HID Headlight Noise

Hi all,

I just picked up my IS250 AWD 2 weeks ago. I noticed a high pitched noise coming from the HID headlights. Is this normal? Searching revealed nothing.

Thanks!

Brigg

So I take it this noise goes away after the lights have been on for a while?

Yeah it's totally noticeable in the garage. I've had the car a month and I still get alarmed when I hear it.

So heres another question: Since this is the first car I have owned with HIDs, do all HIDs including after market make that same or similar buzzing noise?

The older fat Lexus ballasts don't make noise I don't think, but the newer slim ones have the humming sound. I actually like the sound.

yep those BIG koito ones from the older toyota/lexus don't hum.

the new slim denso or koito ones hum, i think its a matter of design.
