Default How long did you wait for your IS special-ordered from factory?

I'm a newbie to CL, don't know if I'm doing this poll correctly. I just want to know the average wait time for a factory special-ordered IS. I ordered mine (through my sister-in-law who works for Toyota) on April 14th. It's been a little over a month now, and I've been told it takes an average of about 3 to 4 months. Please vote on the poll if you actually special ordered your IS from the factory, and not acquired some other way- ie. shipped from another dealership, car was already allocated etc.

Here's what I ordered:
07 IS350 Obsidian/Black, X-package, HID headlamps w/AFS, NAV/ML, Dual Sport Exhaust (HKS) w/ Rear GFX, Rear lip spoiler, Preferred Acc package

I'm sure you can understand my anxiety level. I go to dealerships in the neighborhood every chance I get just to admire the IS and dream about it! I'm on CL all day which is not helping any! All I see is "Got my IS today", mod this, mod that

I special ordered my Red/Black IS350 w/Lux +18", ML, ((xm)), spoiler, on March 1st. The dealer still doesn't have any confirmation that it is being built yet and I do believe them. If you ordered mid April, you may get an '08 as I would think the model year has to change about the end of June at the factory. The new models show up at the dealers in August or so.

Wow, March 1st and you don't have a confirmation that it's being built yet? They should be able to at least tell us how far up the list we are, targeted build date, and so on. So, are you expecting to still get an '07 model? I imagine they will tell us ahead of time if we're getting an '08 model.

What do you think, should I start another poll.. How long have you been waiting for your factory special-ordered IS?

I ordered mine on Sept '05, and recieved it Dec '05.

The car wasn't released until Oct '05, so there weren't a lot of special orders yet at the time. As far as I've heard, there are a lot of special orders now compared to 18 months ago...

I placed the order on 02/02 of this year. No updates from my dealer till last week that they've received confirmation that my car was being built and that it will be another 6-8 weeks.

It's a long wait and I was very frustrated with the dealer about lack of updates thinking it was dealer specific, but if others are experiencing the same thing then I can understand.

I tried to get Lexus to tell me the date when the factory was changing over to the new model year and got a B.S. reply.

At least now you got confirmation that your car is being built. It took 3 months, huh?! Hopefully it will get here in 6 weeks instead of 8. Do you have any advice on what to do while waiting? Here I am, just over a month waiting, and already so anxious. I might end up getting 2, one from a dealer now, then the one I ordered 4 months from now. Actually it's not a bad idea.. one for daily use with all the mods (CL influence), then just keep the other (stock) IS in my garage. Wouldn't it be nice if I can afford that?

That's 3 months and 16 days, that would fall under the "3-4 months" selection. That seems to be the average right now..

I work for Toyota and ordered mine direct from the factory without going through a dealer. It took about 3 months exactly.

Thanks, that makes me feel better. I should be expecting the same thing since it was my sister-in-law (Toyota employee) who ordered it for me.

Four months has been the average reported on CL since day one. Relax, the anticipation will only make the event better.

Take comfort in the fact that your wonderfully spec'ed IS will probably be an '08 at a fantastic price.

89 long days for me. Could'a been a lot worse but the time did seem to crawl.

Oh yes, if it really happens like that.. then I wouldn't mind the extra wait.

Thanks!
