Default Fire in the fuse box!

Question to all with aftermarket HID.
Lots of people say always use a relay. If PnP is so evil, has anyone experienced a Forth of July show on their fuse box?

HID KIT:
-9006 bulb, brand new ballast made on April 2007 in China by Exsun.

Thanks!

I've put in an aftermarket HID kit in a previous car and there was no reason to actually tap into fuse box, IIRC.

You got a fire in the fuse box? Thats why you should always go with the recommended installation IMO.

Did you fuse box start smoking, or are you asking the question? You need to make your thread topic a bit more specific. Instead of "!", how about... "?"

I really don't think it should be a problem. I had a Phillips HID kit (the one without a separate ballast and igniter) in my old Integra for a couple of years. The only thing they did recommend was to change the headlight fuse to one of a higher amperage.

Then again, this is a Lexus, so obviously these are two different animals, so you may have a different experience with your car.

This is just a question to all who used a PnP kit (no relay). I did a PnP kit on my girlfriend's 06' Civic and did not use the relay. Just wondering if anyone here had any issues with theirs?

I had PnP on my Accord for about a year and no problems at all. Then when sold the car, I took it out and installed in the fogs and still no problems. I thought that the only conversion kits with relays was for bi-xenons.

Hell no!!! You never replace a fuse with a higher amp, thats how your HID or something else gets F'd up. The fuse is there to protect what ever its for.
