oil change question
I have less than 1000 miles on my car. I know I have alot of miles left...
BUT! I'm curious about the oil change.
Does IS250 come with synthetic oil in it? or just regular?
What is recommended?
Also, Is there different kind of synthetic oil (grade)?
And Is there different kind of regular oil (grade)?
Please let me know.
Thank YOU!!!

That's a lot of information you want. I don't think the Lexus comes with synthetic oil. In short: Regular oil is fine. Synthetic is better. Depends on how long you want to keep your car and how often you change the oil. There are different grades of both regular and synthetic oils. Use the grade specified in the owner's manual.

Hi, the IS250 does NOT come from factory with synthetic oil. You may choose to use synthetic oil at the first oil change. The grade on the oil is on the oil cap under the engine, which should say 5w-20. I'll stick with that grade till the car gets very very old. Mine has 161k+ on it and I've been using Royal Purple Synthetic oil 5w-30 since it was 25K. I would have started earlier if I knew about synthetic oil back then. hahaha Anyways, that is one of the BEST oil available on the market. And if you don't drive too hard on your car you can actually wait till 6K before changing between synthetic oil. My engine is still smooth after all these abuse that I put it to. haha Well, hope that helps.

see if you can watch them work on your car. As for me, I prefer to do the maintenance myself. It's interesting to look under your car and you get to take your time to make sure ALL of the oil is out. I wait for at least 20 mins just to let it stop dripping. It's fun to get dirty once in a while with your car. hahaha Also, my brother-in-law had a blown out engine when he took it to someone to do his oil change. They didn't tighten the oil plug in enough so while he was on his trip from Dallas to Houston, the oil leaked out and his engine was BLOWN! Only you can take care of your own car the best to your satisfaction.

Yea I know what im doing under the hood from the original days of the '72 SR-5/t-3 swap with 18G-R headswaps and ford 10" rearends, the TRD trans that you can only get buy building it yourself, fun times, Original Ricer in da houze *then the cars were called 'shoyu' and the divers, 'shoyu boiz'.
I plan on looking at the oil change to make sure they put in the purple and NOT put in the w/e and just say they did.
As for under the car, what struck me was how the exhaust is set up, hedders into a single im guessing cat then back out thru dual mufflers. Im guessing its cheeper to make a car with 1 cat vs 2, thou im not sure what the other cat looknig things are... yet, im guessing more cats
