Default Deals available on Special Orders?

Hey all, been on here for a few months researching and I'm now certain this is the car for me!

I'm looking for an AT, RWD, 250. I'm in VA and it seems my best bet would be southern Cali for a good deal on a fully loaded. Thing is, I'm feeling a MUST for ML but it seems they are pretty rare.

Being cars go for under invoice apparently in SoCal, do deals like that apply if I were to need to special order to have the ML like I want if I can't find it available? I figure if I have to special order for it I'll also get the Dynamic Cruise.

So if I go through a dealership that is pushing them off the lot under invoice, do I get similar pricing on a special order, or am I stuck paying MSRP or close to?

Thanks

You're free to haggle on a special order as you would for any other car on the lot. It doesn't cost the dealer anything extra to special order a vehicle, regardless of the BS lines they may try to feed you.

I made it clear on mine that I was more than willing to walk away if we couldn't reach an agreement. That seemed to help drop the price by $3k pretty quickly back in July of last year.

A car, on the lot or with a Special Order, is always negotiable. It just depends on the dealer, as well as your charisma.

Yep...it's all in "the art of the deal", and your negotiating skills. Don't deal with anyone other than the sales manager, be very firm, and be really to walk. The more dealers you contact, the better your chances are. Remember, ALL salespeople these days call themselves internet sales, most will lie in hopes of making an immediate sale, and too many know less about the car than you do.

Good luck!

Well as for negotiating with a dealership across the country I imagine my best bet is getting quotes from multiple dealers and having them beat it etc.
Any other tips?
But thanks! I'm looking to buy in August, but maybe I'll start searching now and put in an order if I have to for ML.
