Took my car for a 5k service saturday morning. Told my consultant about a creek I hear coming from the sunroof when its on tilt. They had me go on a test drive with a tech. He agreed there is a noise coming from the sunroof so they told me they would give me a call when my car was done.

About 4 hours later I get a call telling me my car is ready for pickup, and told me the removed the sunroof and changed out the weather stip and lubricated the sunroof. I pickup my car and drive off, tilt the sunroof and come to find out the noise is still there, this time its even louder! I immediately call my consultant and told her about the noise, she said to bring it in first thing tuesday morning.

Does anybody know if there is a TSB for a sunroof noise? I asked my consultant and told me there is not. Anybody have a fix for this?

 

I took my car in to Lexus of Glendale for the same problem about three weeks ago. They had to order a new sunroof and completely replace mine. It took them about 4 days to receive and install it. Good news is that my sunroof is silent now.

The noise from my sunroof was the drip guard... I had to find where it was coming from myself to show my dealer EXACTLY where the noise was coming from. They insulated the gaurd and the noise is gone. Mine was a rattle though, not a creeking sound.

 

Mine was creeking when I took it in and after they worked on it, it was rattleling. Is the drip guard a plastic piece that you can see when you have the sunroof on tilt? If thats it, then that is whats rattling on mine. I took a look when I heard the noise and then moved it myself, thats were the noise is coming from.

 

Yes, that is the drip gaurd... I had to reproduce the sound for them myself with my finger by simply flicking it.

 

When my sunroof is fully open, and driving fast 100km, it rattles the rear view mirror terribly. Is tha normal??

 

I need to open my sunroof more often to see if mine makes any noise. Think I opened my sunroof twice since I've owned the car. 6 months now.

 

mine is about 3400 miles and it just came out a very vague noise.....maybe I'll have then check @5K....

 

Don't waste your time at the dealer. The noise may be from the weatherstrip around the sunroof. All you need is some lube on the gasket. It fixed mine! You must use this lube. Otherwise you may do more damage.
