Yellow top battery question

My truck has a red top and I'm pushing 2k watts total max...... Battery has been in there for 3 years now with no issues.....


What's the diff between the yellow and the red tops? Saw a blue top too.....????

The blue top and yellow top are both deep cycle, but the blue top has boat terminals. The red top is not deep cycle.

red top is for cranking amps I believe, it can supply a larger amount of amps to power a starter. As indicated before yellow is deep cycle basically having more charge to power things when the car isnt running

Deep cycle doesn't mean that it has more charge or capacity. It just means that it is designed to be drained and charged many times without damage. Regular batteries are actually damaged each time they are significantly drained.

I love yellowtops. I had it in my last car for ~6 years with not one issue... and that was when i lived in NY going through cold winters and hot summers. As soon as my 'stock' battery dies, an optima is going to replace it
