The 5w-30 is the better choice if you do a lot of high speed runs.

the 5w-20 is better if you are easy on your car and pamper it like a baby.

Read your Owners Manual. I quoted what they said on it on another thread.

I live only 10 minutes from the dealership. I will be making a appt soon for new brake pads, and thought maybe I should get them to put the right grade back in.

Cant believe some of you guys complain about these kinds of things.

Now I don't blame the dealer for sometimes being a-holes.

5-30 or 5-20 NOTHING is going to happen. Why waste the dealers time and tell them to drain the oil if it wont harm your engine one bit.

Having them do this makes them more prone to scratch your car, get it dirty inside, etc. Is it worth the hassel?? NOO!

Also, the more you take your car in, the more chance the dealer has the chance to say 'xxxx is wrong with your car and it needs to be fixed' even if xxxx is working fine, their not called a stealership for nothing.

You would be wasting your time. Factory oil cap says 5w-30. Mfr's Owners manual says 5w-30. I know Lexus issued a TSIB for 5w-20, but I know for a fact that 4 of my local Lexus dealers use 5w-30. Now you can stand there and demand a free future oil change, but I'm sure they'll hose you down the line when you really need a 'goodwill' gesture . . .

agreed. No point in wasting time over such a small item.
