Too many ding-dongs in my area have self-installed foglights aimed too high, and 'on' all the time. I leave mine off unless there is a reason (weather). Here in the Sacramento area, we get bad fog a few times a year, that is when I turn them on. Disagree with anyone thinking they look good on. IMHO - they are too spaced apart and look crappy when on.

I leave them on....I think the more lighting you have on the road at night the better.

On all the time. I think they provide substantially more light on the road close up and to the sides. They sort of "fill the gap" between where the regular lights hit the road.

Plus, I think the more that you can be seen, the safer.

The term "ditch lights" actually comes from the railroad. Those two lights you see on the bottom sides of the front of locomotives now days are known as ditch lights, but I can see the analogy of four wheeling in the mud and calling them "ditch lights" also.

I like them on whenever i have my low beams on. Except now I just learned that the 5150K Lumincs bulbs I got were not the best option. I didnt know MTEC made a 4350K which is closer to our stock 4300K HID low beams. So now I have to order new fog lights and high beams so they all match! Another 60 bucks on lights!

Some states laws (like in Oregon I believe) forbid fog lights being on at night unless there is actual fog. The reason? It’s because quite often they are aimed too high so they perform as another set of high beams, blinding both oncoming traffic and through rear view mirrors if behind.

Does anyone here care? Or are we just a bunch of self-centered drivers who can’t get beyond nonsense like, “they look cool,” or “they’re sexy” while we’re really saying “to hell with the other guy.”

If you do most of your driving in the city, where there are lots of street lights, what good do they do anyway? You can barely see a difference.

But I leave them on anyway...
