Default HELP: 2007 IS 250 RWD vs. 2006 IS 250 AWD

Hi guys,

been lurking for a little while and am ready to pull the trigger on one of the two. I am unsure which one would be a better vehicle over the other.

the 2007 has 9k+ miles while the 2006 has 23k+

the 2007 has RWD while the 2006 has AWD

options and access. the same....which would be better?

the city/hwy spread would be about 35/65.

Need help please!

I live in New England and own a 250 AWD, but why would you need one in GA? I lived in ATL for 10 years and I think we got 1/2 inch of snow about 5 times and the whole area shut down anyway.

07 RWD is slightly faster 0-60 because it's lighter, gets better MPG, and I would think gives you a better value in your situation (less complexity with no AWD, lower miles, more warranty, one model year newer) than the 06 AWD.

You don't mention price. Same?

Get the RWD with less mileage. The '07s fixed a couple of '06 issues.

Make sure you have good/great tires. AWD systems are not as good as having great tires.

Keep us informed. Good luck!

I would get the 07 RWD since you live in GA. If you plan to move to the snowbelt state than get the AWD. I have the AWD and I can only get 20-22 mpg in city and the car has 3000 miles already. bad milage.

yeah, the prices I am seeing for getting an 07 RWD are about the same as the 06....but I do know I will have superior gripping than a RWD vehicle. I don't know how much I can really get MPG wise on the RWD here in GA anyways, but it is a considering option. I do drive mostly HWY (85% @ 35 miles one way) but my wife wants to drive it sometimes as well...

Also, its really hard finding what I want; I want the Luxury Plus package w/ 18 wheels (only avail option here in the south) and the nav package. I wanted smokey mica but the ones I am seeing are without nav....talked to a dealer and he told me the only car exactly like I want was in a 13 state radius. and he offered me ~38K out the door.

but on the 06 model, I can hack the nav for use while driving. plus it is completely loaded with everything.

anyways, heres the 06 Im looking at http://www.autohauswebb.com/inventor...99696dda43b3ca

" This near-new Lexus IS250 is an All-Wheel Drive model and is in perfect shape. This car is Tungsten Silver Pearl with a Sterling Grey interior trimmed in Dark Burl Wood. This pristine example is equipped with every feature possible. To start, DVD GPS touch-screen navigation system, starter button with keyless access, power glass moonroof, all automatic windows, steering wheel mounted audio controls, six-speed manu-matic transmission with paddle shifters, automatic head lamps, dual heated and cooled power seats, rear back-up camera, 17" alloy sport wheels, and V6 power. This near-new car is a South Florida car and has been cared for very well. It has a clean CarFax report and is a non-smoker, it still smells new! "

EDIT: Not sure where to find an 07 I want. seems like pricing seems about the same from 06 to 07. so in essence, I don't get some of the new bells from the 07...

for reference, on that 06 model, its not the color I want, but it has all the options. its been really tough finding 07s with the options I want, let alone the color. I've seen a couple I was interested in, but I saw where the car came from (NJ) and thought nahhhhhhh........also saw vehicle history reports and thought the same. So new 07s are out, and waiting for someone to turn in a 07 that I want is a pain....

Also, did I mention my wife and I are swapping my car out so we have places to go? me a 9-5er and she is a nurse who works nights....so you can see how terrible it is for us to wait to find a car exactly what we want...

I drive a AWD. Loving it. But if you want to mod your car, go with the RWD cuz theres a lot of restrictions/complication with suspension mods since the AWD uses a different setup. I live in Canada...with all that snow, I have no choice. Damn, I could have gotten a 350 with that money. hahaha

Hi guys, I pulled the trigger on that 2006 AWD model. I test drove it friday evening and loved it. Would I liked the RWD model? yes...but I words can't express to you how much I love the handling of a vehicle more so than a few HP/microseconds off a line. Of course, I am not a big fan of losing a few MPG on a tank, but I can live with that.

I love everything about the car; when I took my wife to go pick up my car and I drove my old car home (2004 Grand am GT1) I was sad to not drive the lexus

Now I gotta get rid of the 2 other cars I have so I can park in the garage

Thanks Guys for all your help. I don't know how much I will chime on on these boards, but I will definitely be reading...
