Default IS problems, glitches, etc..????

I'm new to this forum but not a lexus owner yet. I find this forum very informative and you guys have a great community here.

I tried the search function but it brought up weird threads that did not help much. I apologize if I missed something. If there's a similar thread please provide a link.

Onto the question, I've been contemplating on getting either an IS250 or a 328i coupe. With the 328i, I've read problems occuring like all the windows opening up without touching the remote and the car stopping/not starting for no reason. With the IS, I know theres the break dust issue but thats been solved. I'm just curious if theres problems I should worry about with the IS? Has there been problems or glitches the IS have that happens to numerous people?

I just don't want to worry about bringing the vehicle to the dealership for numerous problems. Thanks for all the help in advance.

It's a Lexus, which means it's Japanese which means it'll probably outlive you and will give you the minimum number of headaches. Aside from the few TSBs issued for the IS there aren't any specific problems that people are experiencing.

What I can say for sure though is that the IS will be the more reliable of the two if your other choice is a BMW.

Did you try a search? "Lexus Problems", "Lexus issues", etc. You'll find lots of results I'm sure. There are a lot of whiners here. hahaha

Chek JD Power reliability survey. Results speak for themself.

Of all the glitches that the IS have had, it has been found and fixed by Lexus service bulletins.

If there is a design flaw of the IS, it would be soft paint (which is becoming common across all automakers). Make sure you schedule for a Clear Bra the same day you pick up the car.

Thanks for all the answers and help. The 328i in black with coral red interior was really appealing to me but all the problems they have got me worried. IS is looking real good. Not only is it cheaper, it has more features and very reliable. My family has always been a Toyota family, it's about time we move on up to Lexus.

Thanks again for all the help.

2 months and 2500 mi on my 250 AWD and the only 2 negatives (wouldn't even call them problems) are the brake dust which is already addressed by Lexus, and a minor rattle somewhere near the moonroof. I know both will be solved when I go in for the 5K mi service.

Otherwise this is a great car. It just has a "feel of quality" all about it. You can't go wrong with any Lexus, IMO.

Never had a problem! "Knock on some sheetmetal."

Remember back in the 70's and 80's when things out of Japan were usually considered inferior? Japan picked up their act years later and Japan now equates to almost perfection!

I bought Lexus, because I think the quality is hands down superior to anything else.

I enjoy model railroading and use engines by www.katousa.com, these things are manufactured in Japan are like jewels! They are little pieces of art in my opinion. Japan has some of the best quality in the world!

The brake dust thing is not a "problem" per se - it is something that people don't particularly like. It's the design of the brake pads. Just like BMW. The difference is that Lexus offers a free alternative (different pads) if that bothers you, while BMW will just tell you that it's the design (which is true).
