NEVER going over 2k RPM. I've been watching it like a hawk lately because the low MPG is pissing me off.

imo shifting below 2500rpm is not really saving gas... U end up depressing the throttle just a tad more (telling the comp to spray more fuel) just to get the car moving at a pace u would when shifting at 3000rpm. According to the manual the "IDEAL" shift point is between 2500-3000rpm.

I got 29mpg taking Georgia state roads back from the beach yesterday to Athens, crusing at around 60-65mph (300miles). I passed several trucks and broke 100 twice on the two lane roads doing so. That's about the max I have gotten since I bought the car, except going from Illinois to Athens where I got 31mpg. I think that was because the trip was overall downhill though. I have 19,000 miles on my 350 so far.

Yes, but don't you have Chrome wheels that are much larger thatn stock OEMS?

The weight difference could be a reason as to why your gas mileage is bad.

To the person who had the Z06 depending on what gear you're riding around in your car has two over drive gears both 5/6th.. So if you're able to drive around the city in probably even 4th gear chances are you are idling and using less RPMS to move about than we are. Your displacement and gearing helps you greatly if you don't abuse the car.

andoy, I have noticed that milage hasn't improved by trying to drive slow.

IS Mine, I thought about that as well.

To counter this, the past week I've been trying to drive faster off the line in city traffic and "city cruise". I've noticed MPG increase slightly so far.

I just got 19.7 mpg for my last tank in my IS250. Again that's 95% city driving. But I was stepping on it and accelerating very aggressively.

BTW, that's calculated. I don't trust the trip computer. It's off (higher) by almost 2 mpg.

I have a 6MT, and seem to be getting WAY worse mileage than anyone here. My "per tank" average fuel economy this AM when I got to work was 15mpg. Guess I should check it manually over my next two fillups.

I have been doing the same thing. I accelerate up to speed faster and then cruise, and I have seen the MPG go up from when I was babying it.

Tip for people worrying about your MPG, watch the "real time" MPG and see what the difference is between babying it and getting up to speed quickly.

My Avg MPG is 18.8 and I don't really care. Getting the max MPG out of my car is not a priority of mine.

My tank average over several months run between 23 and 25mpg (mostly in town) and 30/34 on trips. I usually set the cruise at 70MPH (before I started trying to be more 'green' I set the cruise at 80MPH) On trips over 100 miles the lowest I have ever got was 29 mpg. I do drive with a light foot and seldom 'get on it' as you guys say.

My thoughts exactly. Not to knock people that want to be environmentally conscious or just efficient, but I can't really see a big reason to be concerned about how to squeeze out a little better MPG. I average 20 to 22 per tank (usually closer to 22) with mixed hwy/city and mixed conservative/agressive driving. I do check my tank avg. probably once per day but I don't really let it concern me or influence my driving enjoyment. I figure I spent a lot of money on a nice car to get an enjoyable driving experience and it takes away from it to have to "pull back" or alter my driving style that much. But, to each his own...

I have certain driving habits and 3.xx for gas isn't going to change that one bit. Even with sub 20 MPG I still get 300 miles to a tank which is fine with me. I've gotten used to it and the other cars I've owned in the past were slower and had worse MPG so quibbling over a few miles which might save you a hundred bucks at the end of the year is not worth my time.

You guys think YOUR gas is expensive?

In Hong Kong and UK, I am pretty sure gas is more expensive than in North America.

Please stop complaining, you guys are making me feel bad.
