Default my IS + Drivers Edge @ Texas World Speedway

Was the only lexus there out of 150 cars, if you browse the pics I'm #22 and my friend was the #62 white S2000. Had a ton of fun. I never been to a track or drivers educational deal and I enjoyed it greatly. Im going again in November, anyone in the houston/austin/dallas area should definately consider trying their sporty car at this event. Learned so much about my car and what it can do. I might have surprised some people that a Lexus is capable of being formidable. My instructors and the president of the drivers edge drove my car and they were very impressed with how it drove and shifted for an automatic. I was probably the first IS350 to show up at one of their events. Anyone hesitant about tracking their 2IS dont worry it can hold its own. I did my share of passing and getting passed.

Green Group Set 8 pages 4 and 5 of the photos has a several pics of my car close together so you dont have to browse around as much.

There were about 150 cars there ranging from C5 C6 corvettes, several 911 turbo GT2 or GT3 Porsches, Lotus Elise/Exige, S2000s, Miatas, Lancer Evolutions, Subaru STi, BMW M3s, BMW 850, a Noble M400, a Ferrari F355, a Viper, Mini Coopers, a Saturn Sky Redline, and a single lonely Lexus.

That's great stuff. How much did it cost? Did you have your own helmet or rent? Also, VSC on or off or both?

I didnt do the pedal dance, all I used was ECT Power and Sport Mode, down and upshifts are quick, probably has a big advantage over less experienced manual drivers. The course fee was $295 for sat and sunday, $20 for helmet rental. Each day there are about 4 track runs 6-7 laps each, 3-4 classroom sessions, so you do get a lotta hands on track time. Each day pretty much goes from 7:45 - 5:30. Their next TX World Speedway deal is going to be in November, I'm definately going, weather will be less harsh.

in a few thousand miles after this event, the TSB on the IS350 brakes might be a good idea

I got a tire chunk scuff a few inches long on my hood, i rubbed off as much as I could but theres some that wont come off. Would a clay bar take the rest off?

Sounds like fun. I would love to have a track day down here in FL, maybe at Sebring, Daytona or Gainseville.

Did you use the stock tires, and how did they hold up? Any brake fade at the end of your lap sessions?

Nice pic of the "Bar Setting" BMW going off roading

i used the stock RE050 potenzas, my car is stock except for a K&N drop in. The track setup isnt one to have brake fade to be a problem turns arent frequent or tough on the brakes. My tires were getting mushy on some runs but thats because of the blistering heat from the weather. I let out some pressure to stop the tires from getting too hot

yea that same M3 spun a few times and is in a few photos of his car in the wrong direction on the track or in the grass
