I get another transmission tomorrow morning. Lexus had a technical specialist come out to my dealership in Pittsburgh....my grinding transmission made him go "WOW". That's 3 down!

I have encountered a couple of items
To date I have 27k miles on my 350 and am still on my original Dunlops with spirited driving 20/80 cty/hwy. I'll be changing those out in about 3k miles. I am also averaging about 24mpg. Still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it
At 20k miles I had the radiator and the driver's seat replace.
The top of the radiator started to separate. I was lucky enough to catch it early while washing my car one day. That was replaced under warranty. Got to drive an 08 RX350 for Memorial Weekend, that's 700 miles I saved on my car.
The seat was acting like a rocking chair, would click forward when stopping and back when accelerating, didn't matter if I was going fast or slow. First time I took it in they tried to tighten the seat down, but that didn't fix it. The second time they replaced the whole seat, said it was a safety issue.
The only major complaint I have is with the soft paint. I picked up my first stone chip within the first 3 days of owning the car. My brothers black 98 GS400 with 110k miles has less chips than my IS and most of his miles are hwy from early in the life of the car.
Then the usual:
Brake dust, TSIB
Review Mirror, TSIB
Road noise, increasing as tires wear.

I've only had my IS for about 1100 miles, and the only thing bothering me is the brake dust, which I'll have fixed via TSB when I go in for my 5K service. Everything else has been perfect. By far the best car I've owned, plenty of power, luxury, and all the creature comforts that make for a very satisfying daily driver!

I must say Toyota will be getting my $$ once again...I defected and wanted power and got a 2003 G35 coupe new in Sept of 03 (put on only14.6Kmi)...after a bunch of issues with multiple crap and the crappiest service I sold it in DEC.2006
So when I'm ready I think I'll be back with Toyota...sorry I ever left ...rattles and squeaks is nothing compared to unfixable uneven tire wear, Rack and pinion assemble gone at 5K, trannies, leaks, clicking axles, power window motors gone (only to be replaced with same crap unit) and dealers constantky giving you crap when you just want your car fixed under warranty.

Hahahhaha....I feel ya there man. I had an 04 350Z prior to my IS and I encountered the same damn problems. All these guys complaining about the IS quality need to go out and buy a Nissan/Infiniti and see how good they have it with the Lex.
Personally I have only had my IS for 3 months, however knock on wood there have been no issues at all. In fact my experience thus far has been phenomenal, especially when compared to my 350Z. Granted the Z was much faster and more fun to drive, but quality wise it was a piece of *****. All cars are going to have issues....hell people with Bentleys have issues. When you put thousands of parts together and create a 2 ton piece of machinery that can move in excess of 100mph you better bank on things such as minor rattles, wind noise and so forth. Truthfully if you think your Lexus is junk, sell it and get something else. Hell...go get a Jag, or a Caddy, or a BMW. Once you realize how "good" they are Im sure you will be coming back to a Toyota or Lexus badge....I know I did.

the only problems i've had was the rear seat rattles and recently had my BRAKE pads changed.. the rattles are gone now and the new updated brake pads are a great improvement.. now, there's really not as much dust as before

I've had to take two trips to the dealership so far because of condensation in my driver's side headlight housing... it happens when I wash my car and then go for a cruise right afterwards....i think the heat from the engine makes steam that finds its way into the headlight housing....
I have not modded the housing whatsoever, never really even opened it since I bought the car.

So far I have had the car in for the CEL/VSC light, which according to my local dealer was attributed to a defective gas cap. My car is currently in the shop again right now for the grinding sound the engine makes at cold start up. I'm surprised to see how many problems this car is giving. I'm thinking that maybe because it is a first year production car that they're still working the bugs out of.

I don't know wtf the designers were smoking, but the cig lighter placement in the arm rest storage is just plain idiotic. Don't they know the adapters are about 3" long. And there is no passthru for wires out from there either! ARGH!

Too many problems...
I have only owned my 2IS for about a month and have had a number of problems. Dash and rear view mirror rattles, rattles on start-up, excessive road and wind noise and sunroof rattles like crazy (this is the most annoying thing). I am very dissapointed with the quality of this car. I had a BMW 330ci when I was 18 and I treated that car like **** and after 120,000 km it made less noise than my brand new IS makes.
