Makeup in an IS?
<start rant>
To the woman driving the Black IS with a Tan interior that was driving behind me heading south on the Tollway this morning... quit doing your makeup while driving!! You couldn't stay in your lane, you couldn't maintain anything close to a constant speed and you nearly side swiped a car. Luckily I didn't have to stop short or we would have had ourselves an IS make out session that neither one of us would have enjoyed.
I guess some people don't value their cars, personal safety and the safety of those around them as much as most of us here do.
</end rant>

As much as I dislike the disabled NAV, the car driving culture here in the US really makes us unable to trust each other to be responsible to driving...
So I blame the operation of our NAV on our own driving habits, the fearless belief that we are all in the top 20% of drivers, and the sue-happy society we live in.
This make-up story which we've all encountered just further proves the point that we can't concentrate on driving here... I'm sure she moved onto breakfast and her voicemail after that...

Regarding it being an industry standard, it'll only be a matter time that happens once some manufacturer loses that first lawsuit or some zealous state AG reaches some settlement with manufacturers to disable.
I don't see this moving any differently than the move to handsfree phones for driving as more and more states bans handhelds.
