Canadian Prices >$60k
I was just wondering if all the US buddies on this forum knew that the is350 goes for >$60k in canada
WIth current exchange rate 0.94 = $56.4k
For canadians just go down south and pick one up and save $10-15k depending on options and (new or old)
THat's crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yup tell me about it.
I was quoted $61 600cdn for a full load IS350. So i will just wait it out until i move to cleveland and get one in the states - which is what i am doing.
As to why we (cdns) dont just go down south and buy one - well there are numerous reasons. There are a lot of headaches/inspections in bringing a car over the border. Many times there are different features. In the case of the IS350 its only the LSD i think. BUt the biggest problem is that many/most manufacturers dont honor waranty on opposite sides of the border.

A few years ago when the dollar was at 61 cents Americans were going to Canada and buying cars. It's just a function of exchange rates. Lexus Canada SHOULD be reducing their prices in view of the strong exchange rate, but as long as sales hold up they won't. That just makes more profit for Toyota.
Companies have tried to make it more difficult to allow cross border shopping, with some success.

Puerto Rico here!
The IS350 with Lux package (No NAV or ML) goes for $56K. Meaning that Canada's quote for the IS is less expensive than PR. Cost of living in PR is as high as Canada but salaries are much lower here.

The prices are pretty high in Canada, but it doesn't seem to stop people from buying them. I cant say much about the rest of Canada but in my neighborhood the 250 is almost as common as a civic.....

Remember though Canadian dollar numbers are always higher, they are not going to move it up and down just because of exchange rate to the US. Canadians get paid in higher dollar amount than US too.
Not even a decade ago, remember you could get $1.5X CDN for a dollar US.
So then the numbers make more sense back then right? It's not just Lexus, look at the MSRP of a Lotus Elise for example in both US and Canada.
But yea, sure take advantage of the strong Canadian dollar right now, not just to buy a car (if feasible).. buy anything in US really, you feel like you got a good deal.
One thing, I think all Canadian cars are required to have DRL and the IS already has DRL so this would make it easier for import.

For a fully loaded IS250AWD w/Rear lip. After taxes was $63K.
Trust me, when I log on, and i see the US prices I totally freak.
I've already tried contacting a few audi dealerships in the states to see if they will sell me the new R8. But they stated no, as I've also heard the bumper requirement is 3mph down there, where it's 5mph up here. So that might be another problem.

The MSRP on a AWD is about 7K less. So we're almost in the same boat. I didn't/wasn't able to get any special discounts aside from $1500 off + Rear lip on my car. It was the only 2007 GFM AWD W/NAV that was coming into Canada. So I either take it, or not.
