Default how y'all avoid curbing your wheels?

Is there some trick you'd use to avoid curb rash on your 2IS wheels?

for parking mostly..

although 2IS doors are quite high, turning radius is very sharp.. sometimes I lost track where the islands are in parking lots.

I agree with others. Please take no offense, but you just need to learn how to drive correctly. I'm been driving on luxury rims for the past five years and have never curbed them. I'd shoot myself if I did.

When parking or if I'm worried about a curb, I'm my side mirrors down all the way just to make sure.

I’ve already done it pulling up to a curb at an odd angle. It was an odd curb only like 2" high. I just happened to hit it at the EXACT angle to scuff a good 5 inches of wheel. Had to have been a one in a million. one billionth of an angle either way and I would have missed it or the tire would have gone over it.

Really in short, the stock rims and tires are poor protection, it the tire lip[ stuck out jsut a little bit more like most do, that wouldn’t happen. Probably fixed next time by going with a slightly wider tire.

I blame the design. I’ve had custom wheels on my cars for 15 years and never had them scratch like that due to the tires lip.

This one is the one that’s finally thrown me over the edge on cars. I’ve been buying enthusiast cars for 15 years and I’m just friggen tired of worrying about them. I’m gonna sell the IS and buy a beater that I can beat the crap out of and not worry about it. Save a good $500 a month to… put it in a IRA or something.

Hell, Ill even get plates that say "keythis"

I hit a curb and bent my wheel a month ago.

And I have park assist and the backup camera.

It just happens when you're careless.

So be careful when getting near curbs.

Exactly! Sliding the mirrors all the way down to check the curb can work wonders. It only sucks if you dont have memory seats and have to try and remember exactly where your mirror was! lol

I'm sure the auto dipping mirror is used to assist park.

Use it or scratch your wheels first before the curbs does.

i use my sense of how close i am to the curb, if you pull in close enough to the curb you can judge by lookin ginto your rear vie mirror how close you are to the curb. it works for me everytime, go very slow and try to line your car up with the curb not turning your wheel ssharply and youll be able to get the car in very nicely without saying any obscene gestures.

i tend to park on the left side of the street if possbile so i can just crack the door or look out the window. And for the right side of the street i park like every other jacka** in new orleans 6-10 inches away from the curb. Now if i go hit a curb b/c of posting this i will be very mad
