One thing ive learned in life, its never easy... so when an opportunity arises to do things the easy way, take it... what if you go and they say, 'oh we just ran out' or someother bs? At the very least stop at a radio shack tomorrow and take a look.

That's pathetic.
The battery only lasts 1 and a half years???
the little tiny battery in my dad's '94 LS400 is still working to this very day.
actually his key just died a few days ago but my 2nd key is still good =)
we bought that car new in August 1994 =P

Did you actually see or buy a CR1632 there, or just assume because they have a huge wall of coin batteries, they must have it? It isn't available at http://walgreens.com, nor do any of my local Walgreen's carry it.
No, I think I still hold that record. I bought my car the first week of December '05, and my first battery died 2 1/2 months later in February '06. Happy to say that the replacement is still going strong one year and four months later.
But the fob on your old LS won't work unless you take it out and push a button. I have no problem replacing a battery every year or two in exchange for the convenience of opening the doors and starting the car with the key still tucked away.

Just back from dealer for 10,000 mile service. I have had the car for 15 months. Requested a new battery from service advisor and immediately told I do not need one. I don't believe him. He did say they did have them and could sell to me for $12-$15 per battery. But he was very reluctant to get the battery even at this ridiculous price. I'll look elsewhere. Also at the end of my service, I received no printout of service performed etc. I really don't like the service I am getting at Nalley in Atlanta (Smyrna). As soon as my negotiated free service interevals end, I will never be back to this dealer.

I checked out Walgreens. They carry those coin batteries, but they don't have the CR1632 (at least the one by me doesn't). I checked out Radio Shack too. They had it on their website, but it said it was a web item only. When I went into the store, they said they didn't carry them there either. I got mine from the dealership for $4. They're not that hard to install. At my local dealership, they have the batteries in their boutique and the girl that worked the counter installed it for me.
