Thats amazing... i only have 3000kms on my car (roughly 1800miles) and the front bumper looks like it has been to Iraq... i need to start being nicer to the service reps...

I've decided once I get the car back I'm going to definatly get a clear bra, does anyone have any info on which are the best? Is it wise to go through the dealer? Thanks...

I agree. When it comes time to sell or trade in the car, buyers will make a big fuss about the repaint job.

Does the new paint need time to cure or can I apply a clear bra immediately? Any ideas on which are better then others?

You need to wait 2 months for the paint to dry before u do clear bra.

it is a oxidation process

Yep. That's how it works. It takes up to 2 months for the paint to fully cure, otherwise, the clear bra may damage your paint's finish.

I'm really not getting how a dealer would possibly be willing to repaint a car for free based on rock chips.... Is there more to this story?

I'm sure they know they are taking a loss on this one, but satisfied customers are important for repeat business. Mercedes NEVER chip, might be something worth mentioning

I don't know about hurting resale value (unless its not matched right) but in my experience, the factory paint is superior in durability...so watch the re-painted area closely - it may chip EVEN EASIER!!!

We need a full story here , to me it seems like he is either paying from his pocket or he has a close frind that works at the dealer . I dont think any dealer will paint your car for free if you tell them that rock chips ruin your paint .

Who ever mentioned "repaint a car" or "paint car" ??

Its just the front bumper...
It will probably only cost the dealer a couple of hundred bucks.. if that....
