Default Changing the AT shift **** to something a bit more aggressive ....

Doing a search here turns up very few owners who have changed their AT shift *****. The usual attitude is “why bother, the stock one is fine”. Yet we'll spend thousands of dollars on wheels, stereo upgrades, special lights, and other whatnots. Yet the shift **** is something we interact with every time we drive the car, and something that is in sight while we are in the car.

The stock **** is certainly a nice unit, but nothing out of the ordinary. It always seems a bit feminine, and a bit too small. A month ago there was a post where Mr. Mark had replaced his shifter **** with a MOMO unit. It looked good so I did a bit of research on MOMO USA’s site which has tons of different *****, www.momousa.com, and eventually bought the same unit on the Bay for a good price, a Combat Evo Airmetal. It has a similar shape to the stock unit but actually sits a bit lower and has a fatter, chunkier base where it attaches to the shift shaft. It is also about ¼” wider and ¼” longer than the stock unit. It is more aggressive looking than the stock **** and is a bit better proportioned, imo. The perforated metal insert gives it a more performance feel, and it goes well with the CF trim on the console. It has a small metal logo that says “MOMO Italy”. I also like the slightly rougher leather and the contrasting stitching (no one works leather like the Italians). It is available in various insert finishes, including a carbon fiber version.

Installation takes about 10 minutes. The kit comes with 5 different adapter spacers. I used the smallest (8mm) spacer which is the same size as the shift shaft, and then the **** is held on with three set screws, giving a very secure fit. I suppose most of the MOMO ***** would be usable since I think they are all attached the same way. Anyway, it’s an easy project that can change the visual and tactile feel of your ride for under $100.

I changed mine to the wood instead of the metal to match the interior.

Here are the pictures:

I found it on craigslist and I think it's from a 3GS.

I've always loved MOMO ***** and steering wheels. They do alot of optional equipment for WRXs and EVOs. Does the wood **** scratch as easy as the center trim?
