Default Brake dust question

Do you think the pads that came with the car is same as what JDM cars have? Intentional performance but just happen to be dusty?

No idea, if they are the same as the JDM ones. That would be a good thing to look-up though.

The brake pads are functional, but it may have been of cheaper quality. Who knows?

They put the dusty pads on the IS, and the good non-dusty pads on the GS450h. Sometimes, the premium vehicle gets the good stuff...

I wanted to know if the Japanese Engineers intended the car to have pads like these. I hate the dust but they do seem to stop very well...

Debating on doing the TSIB or not... seems like the dealer have not widely recognized the TSIB for the IS250 yet so I will wait a bit.

Does anyone know any other good performance brake pad models that fit the IS also less dust?
Which is better: ceramic or metallic brake pads?

There were some threads stating that they weren't able to get the TSB done because the pads were too worn. Had mines done and felt that they stopped just as well when they were broken-in. Ben_r attached a pdf file so you could just print it out and give it to them.

I use porterfield R4S (carbon kevlar) on all of my cars the brake dust is very little and not corrosive. You can leave them on for a year and they don't etch into the wheel. I don't know if they make it for our cars yet.
Usually $70-$100 for front pads depending on the car.
But the brake feel is not as stiff with these pads... comparing to metalic pads.

Default Brake Dust: TSIB BR002-06 in Cali

Hello from CALI! I took my 07 IS250 to Lexus of Glendale on 06/27/07 and they perform the TSIB but also advised me to get the rotors resurfaced for an additional $215. I declined the offer and got the pads replace only (free/warranty-cost $145.91). The next 2 days I went to DCH Lexus of Oxnard and got my rotors resurfaced for free! See attached invoice (it's only showing the bottom half from Glendale). I'll post the other invoice next.

So you just unnecessarily reduced the service life of your rotors. Why?

There is no need to resurface the rotors on the pad change. None at all. It's a waste of a good rotor.
