15,000 mile maintenance - good dealer service
Since it seems that a number of folks on this forum have had bad dealer experiences, I thought I'd relate a very good one (which has been the norm for me)
My IS was up for its 15,000 mile maintenance, so I decided to get the replacement front brake pads (per the TSIB) done as well as replace my OEM tires. I talked with the service consultant and we set it up for today. I just had the oil/filter changed and fluids checked. There were no questions asked about the brake pads TSIB - they just said OK, we'll change them. I ordered new tires from Tirerack and had them shipped to the dealer. The service consultant called me to let me know they had arrived. I took the car in this morning at 8:00 AM, they gave me a loaner, called me at 12:15 to let me know it was ready, I returned the loaner and that was that.
So far I have felt very little difference in the stopping ability of the brakes. I am looking forward to the reduced brake dust.

The dealer charged $20 per tire (plus a $2.25 hazardous material waste charge for each old tire) to take the old tires off and put the new ones on (this included balancing the new tires). They did a great job - no scratches on the wheels and smooth riding.

Well, I'm not sure what my dealer or any other one charges for the "15,000 mile maintenance." I just asked to have the oil and filter changed and the fluids checked. At 15,000 miles the air conditioner filter is supposed to be cleaned, and I did that myself before I took it in. Since I had the brake pads replaced under the TSIB, checking that was not necessary. The first major service is at 30,000 miles, and I will probably do the scheduled maintenance in the Owner's Manual Supplement lists (not what the dealer adds on as recommended services). The cost for changing the oil/filter and checking fluids was $48.00.
