The JL 500/1 does have a switch for high/low input so make sure it is set to high if you are running it that way. It will give u much greater control over the gain adjustment. Summing of channels with an rca y adapter is fine, but if the doorspeakers are truely a full range signal this would be the best place to get the signal.
