Delayed launch when flooring the gas pedal??
What's up with that? Today as I was trying to get to the left lane (right lane was coming to an end and I had to merge left on freeway traffic) and I saw a clearing up ahead. I needed power to get me up there since I was rolling at around 30mph. I stomped on the gas pedal and what the crap? There was like a 3-5 seconds delay in power transfer!!!!!! Once I finally got going, it was smoking fast--but what's the deal with the delay? Hope nothing is wrong with the drive by wire throttle, tranny, etc.

Whew, glad that it's not just me....must be a common feature in Lexus, and hopefully not a problem. But that sucks though because you don't get the power on demand. Not good. I could've been in an accident if the power fail to deliver within those valuable seconds!!!!

See, I always thought that the drive by wire throttle system was instant, no lag because everything is actuated by the computer. Which was what makes drive by wire so neat. It senses the gas pedal depressed downward and boom, throttle opens up for instant power.

3-5 seconds doesn't sound normal for some reason...
I mean, I know when I drove my friend's 2007 Trailblazer SS, there was a split-second lag that was very noticable, but most "normal" drivers wouldn't even notice it at all.

It was also very hot too when it happened. Maybe heat has something to do with it. It was 100+ degrees again. I notice the car drives different in really hot weather than in cooler weather.

Yea I get the same too, sucks that Lexus has put alot of technology into the car but seem to left out the transmission part out. Other competitors has DSG,SMG,downshift rev matched. But Lexus gave the IS350 a standard auto.

I should've tried forcing transmission response by using the sport shift. But everything was happening pretty quick and I wasn't thinking about manual shifting.

TRD, was your A/C on? You mentioned it was 100+ degrees. If your A/C was on and you floor your gas pedal there will be a delayed response but 5 seconds seems too long. Maybe you just felt it was that long of a throttle response.

Yeah, I had the AC on because it was too hot outside. 5 seconds may have been an exaggeration, but it felt long for the motor to kick in. THat's why I put down at least 3 seconds. Definitel not a 1-2 second delay, because it was just that long. I thought it wasn't getting gas at first so I was like, dead in the water for a bit. Then the engine just ROARED to life and off I go. If I had an exhaust system, you could hear it good. The tach was redline all the way through the damn gears finally....

I work over in Fontana/Colton and it's dead hot. Well, not as hot as Palm Springs, but hot. Just today parkng outside, it was 106 degrees. A couple of days ago, it was 112 degrees (that's what it says on the temp display)!!!!
