It's the other way. You can disable it from going back in every time. It's one of the personalize setting the dealer can set.

I dont know, since I started driving people have always told me not to leave the car in ON mode when the engine isnt running. Ive heard that for every kind of car Ive owned, including from the sales person that gave me my walk through at the Lexus dealership. Call the dealership and ask a tech about it...

Anyone else heard this too?

Long ago it was because you would overheat the ignition coil. I seriously doubt this is still true. First because each cylinder has its own coil, and second because the ECM is smart enough to know when the crank isn't turning, so it won't allow the transistors powering the coils to flow current until there is some motion (I seem to recall it being 200 or 300 rpm.)

I've left mine on for extended periods while checking things and never had an issue.

I thought that when you pushed the start button with the orange LED lit, it put the ignition in "accessory" mode, not "on" mode?

One press without the brake and you are in ACC mode. Two presses and you are in IGN mode which means all the electronics are ready to go to work and the fuel pumps are ready to do their thing as soon as the ECM sees 200 or 300 rpm. To get STA you must press the brake.
