Default Couple of oil change questions

I changed my oil for the first time today since the dealer did it at 5K (At 8,000 now) and couldn't get the damm filter off with my strap wrench.

1) Do you think its ok to leave this oil in till 11K and change it out with the filter? I used Mobil 1 and usually let that stuff go for 7-8K in my other car, but don't want to push it on the filter.

2) What type of wrench do I need for this oil filter?

3) The manual showed a jack point under the center front of the car, but I couldn't exactly tell where it was from the diagram. I used the one on the side, but i'm curious about the center one since I have a 2.25 ton floor jack. Any clues on where it is?

TIA

First, never crawl under your car with a jack holding the car up. That is too dangerous. Many have been killed by failing jacks. Either use ramps or take it to the dealer. I didn't think you needed to jack the car up to get at the filter.

Second, you are ok if you just leave it till 11k. The dealer changed it at the first 5k service, it has lots of life left in it.

The oil cap wrench is a type "f", goto autozone/checkers/napa/pepboyz or where ever you goto buy oil.

Also, i will repeat what Evitzee said, never ever go under a car without stands or ramps or 3 samoan guys, its like watching a lighting storm outside with an umbrella. Your taking a risk you dont need to be taking.

I bought that "F" filter too from Autozone when I did mine last month for my 10k change.

That thing doesn't really work very well. The fit seemed a little loose to me, and had some problems removing the super tight housing element. You may be better off getting another aftermarket cap wrench or shell out the $40 for Special Service Tool (SST) from your dealer . P/n : #09228-06501

Don't confuse the 'Jack Point' with the 'Lift point' I had the same confusion on where to jack the car up at. The point underneath isn't it. Check the manual on "changing a tire". It will point you in the right direction. The jack point you are after is just like any other new car.

Also, invest $20-$30 in a set of ramps. You can drive right up them and have plenty of room to do the oil change

I've been very happy with my Rhino ramps. They are made of plastic, hence much lighter and easy to handle than the old fashioned metal kind.
