Yes, it's a ripoff. My fiancee was quoted 220 for the 15,000 mile change. I went and looked it up under the manual and said "other than the adjustments they probably won't even need to make on a brand new car, any GOOD mechanic will check the rest when you do an oil change anyways." Most mechanics will check the rest of your car because this is another way of finding revenue (finding out what else your car needs). A GOOD mechanic will not recommend things you don't really need.

It's defintely a rip-off.

I'm not sure of the 250, but for my 350, I just changed the oil, and bought the A/C or interior and engine air filter and changed them myself.

OK...the engine air filter is easy to replace. But, the interior was a little tricky becuase I had to pull really hard to the get glove compartment tray out and i was afraid that I was going to break it.

Nevertheless, I saved a bunch of money. What suprise me was the interior air filter was $40 for a tiny filter. But, got no choice. No aftermarket from Fram yet.

You can buy the ac filter online from sewell for about $30 after the 10% discount. Stock up to save on shipping.

Since we're on the subject, how much is it usually for the 10k maint at a dealer?

I was charged $200 for the 10k at Tustin Lexus. Mobil 1 full synthetic.

Ahhh yes, the interior air filter. What they don't tell you is that you can actually wash the interior air filter that came with the car. I mean you can throw it in the washing machine and save yourself some money. Trust me, it works.
