do you always have to start this stuff man? stop acting like you know everything, honestly. you have some growing up to do yourself. At your age driving a modded WRX? i know my father would get laughed at if he drove that to any one of his meetings, and he's only 42--i still consider him a pretty young guy. granted you also have the IS, but what are you doin with a WRX. clearly you still have some youth left in you as well--that or your priorities arent in the right order. or perhaps you're one of those guys who tries to be young again when he sees his youth slipping away. stop bashing me.

i think you guys are blowing it out of perspective. it wasn't a huge deal. i was pretty calm throughout the process. i just gave you cliffnotes of what actually occured. it just sucks that people have gotten free batteries from their dealership while mine just wouldn't budge, even though they said the battery must have been Defective. ya know? i mean if the tech said, yeah they don't last very long. you gotta buy new ones they cost 12. i wouldve given him a thanks but no thanks. but to say that it was defective, and then make me buy a new one--come on. many of you would react the same way.

Oh--c'mon. $12 is worth losing a customer? How's that making a profit. My Honda dealer replaced a leather seat cushion which was slightly cracking (I had 1 week left on my warranty) even though they didn't think it needed it, as a "courtesy replacement". Continued business for years is where the "profit" is, not in the markup for a battery.

My dealer replaced the battery in my key fob for free.

I have to disagree with CK6Speed that you can get the CR1632 anywhere. Before heading to my dealer I combed the inventory of every CVS, Walgreens, Radio Shack and jewelry store within easy driving distance with no success.

Everyone had the CR1620 (right diameter but too thin) and everyone had the CR2032 (right thickness, but too wide), but nobody local had the CR1632 or even an empty hanger on their rack for that size. They are easy to find on eBay, mail order, or at some battery specialty retailers, but you won't find them on that wall of lithium coin batteries at your local drugstore, supermarket or electronics chain.

I haven't had mine fail yet, but I've been looking for a replacement everywhere I see lithium batteries for sale. I haven't seen a 1632 anywhere in California or Georgia (not even Fry's, and I thought for sure they would have them.) I have not gone to a battery specialty shop though.

Best bet is just to order some from the 'Bay and put them in your freezer until you need them. They are cheap on line, I just bought 5 factory fresh Panasonic Lithium CR1632 batteries for $5.98, which included shipping. That's only $1.20 each. And I'll be ready when the original ones crap out.

I just ordered 5 of them. Probably have them next week. If anyone wants 1 or 2, drop me a note.

Dealers charge way more for everything then you have to pay elsewhere. It's just like being at an airport, the movies or a sports event. It's nothing new and it's not just Lexus. I don't get the reason for making such a big deal out of it.
