First Look: Falken Tire IS350 Drift Car on display @ Formula D Round 1 Long Beach, CA
Well after a few different rumors through the grape vine, I finally saw the Falken IS350 Drift car today...
WOW - is all I have to say after looking over the entire build.
Only one problem, it wasn't Fully Tuned for today's event, so it ended up on display in the Discount/America's Tire tent..
Hiro Sumida will be driving it for sure @ Round 2: Road Atlanta - Formula D > May 12th, 2007..
This is what the project manager of the IS350 told me this afternoon..!!!
Nice to finally see Lexus IS in the Drift circuit.
BTW - did I mention they swapped out the 350 motor and dropped in a:
2JZ Supra Turbo Motor w/ a Haltech Engine Management System..!!!
There is a whole list of other goodies done to this car as well... just posting the minimum for now, since I’m a bit exhausted..!!
It was built by SPD Metal Works in Placentia, CA - funded by Falken (i think)
Well enough typing, here are the pics..

Wow. I wish they could have kept the 2GR-FSE. It would mean a quicker trip to aftermarket speed for 2IS owners. No doubt it will go like stink with that engine setup. Did they keep the Getrag too?
