You're kidding, right? Do the same with the sienna's oil & filter? Do you plan on re-using the brake fluid too? Some things in the world of maintenance are just plain disposable, paper filters are one of them. You cannot convince me that throwing a paper element cabin filter in the wash is the wisest thing to do for a luxury-sports sedan that costs apprx $40k . . .

By the way, the van costs over $40K also.

I actually just changed my cabin filter yesterday too for the first time in 23,000 miles. It was extremely dirty and I should have changed it out per the maintenance schedule of every 10k miles. I'm not sure a DIY is necessary as there is already a DIY in the owners manual for the cabin filter, but you have a very nice write-up. Also out of curiosity, how much did you end up paying for the filter? My dealer charged me $42. I also heard the 07 camry uses this same filter, but I can't verify at the moment. May be able to save us a few bucks for our next cabin filter change.

25 bucks Toyota dealer, Lexus parts department(different dealer)closed on Saturdays. That reminds me, A Doe walks out of the woods. Her hair is all messed up, he eyes are glazed, she's short of breath. She says, "thats the last time I'll do that for two Bucks again!"

This is good stuff! Thanks for taking the time to write up the DIY. This type of stuff is very valuable to the Lexus community. Quick question, do you know if this same procedure can be applied to the 2007 GS350 or is the filter located in a different area. One thing i noticed from the DIY that concerned me a bit is in my passenger side compartment, that is where the DVD Navigation Drive is housed. In the first picture of the DIY, i noticed that there wasnt one there. Is this because the DVD Drive had already been removed or that particular car doesn't have a drive? I appreciate any insight you can provide. Thanks!

Great post, thanks for the PDF!
FYI, I normally change my cabin filter roughly every 6 months... Sometimes sooner... I have not changed it in my IS350 yet, but I've been lazy... Gonna do it in 2 weeks when I change my oil...

Thanks for the write-up and information in this thread.
The dealer wanted:
$99 for Air Filter installed
$99 for Cabin/Ac filter installed
$99 for an alignment
I needed the alignment after getting my new tires but I wanted to see what info I could find about filters on good ole ClubLexus first.
I used Irontoad.com this morning buying both filters for $51 and another $10 for shipping. Good information in this thread will save you $$$ when it is time.
